Hi All,
I hope someone can help me.
I live in the UK and graduated last year with a 1st Class LLB degree in Law and currently working as a Paralegal in a local law firm.
I visited Australia last year on a Working Holiday Visa but sadly had to return after 4 months due to a death in my family. My visa expires in June 2013 and I can't afford to go back so soon.
My issue is this..
I desperately want to move over to Australia on a more permanent basis and start a life out there. I've looked at routes of becoming a Solicitor in this country by doing the Legal Practice Course and obtaining a training contract, then attempting to have my qualifications assessed by one of the Law Societies in Australia. The chances of migrating via this route seem very slim!
My other option which I'm swaying more towards is to do a Masters Degree in Social Work in the UK and become a Social Worker (which I think would be much better suited to me) and then trying to move over to Australia on a skilled migrant visa or sponsorship.
There's so much info on the internet but none of it seems to help. I want to think about my career on the whole rather than which option would allow me to move abroad, but ultimately, living and working in Australia is my goal.
I would really appreciate any info or advice relating to the above by someone who knows their stuff on this subject!
Thank you
