Prob looking at $550 max for a house, have 2 children. It's not a problem having to travel to the beach at weekends....it's at least 2 hours from where we currently live in the uk to the sea.....so an hour to an Aussie beach is fine with me!! Unfortunately no idea regard work location as yet! Still searching Internet!

Any advice? Temp agencies? Can't seem to find on the net. Average salary? How does safeguarding work compare to that in the UK? Is it easy to find work? I've not found that much in the Internet!! Thanks!!!!

Having scoured the Internet for affordable family housing, it appears that the Hills district has a lot to offer. Just worried that not having visited the area (albeit have been to Sydney 6x), I've not been to that way, that were putting all our eggs in one basket by 'assuming' that's where we're going to be! Have to get it right, as eldest daughter will be nearly 11 when moving- so schools are a priority & don't want to have to move her around if we feel that the area isn't right?? Having been a backpacker in Oz in my early 20's I loved the lifestyle- inner city suburbs & always thought I'd be able to live there. However with the current exchange rate, having a family to support (which I'm externally grateful for), the astonishing city house prices & being in close proximity to the city/ beaches is almost non existent possibility! Are there any other families whom have relocated to the hills area???? Any tips, guidance? No idea as yet of any locations for work, which is another minefield! Is the hills area a good commutable place to live? Which would be the quickest beach to get to? Looking for short term property when first arrive poss in hills area- suggestions? Thanks!

Hi, Are there currently any practising Social workers in Sydney on here? I am working in the UK at present in children's services- safeguarding/court work etc & have done for the past 4 years. Is there a shortage of SW's in Oz, as in the UK? I have not been able to find temp agencies to sign up to in advance, on the Internet. I process of visa application etc & should be heading out to Oz at the end of the year. Advice gladly received! Thanks
