  1. Hi, I am new to PIO. British citizen married (10 years) to Oz citizen so looking to apply for 309/100 partner visa. Planning to move to Oz in 2015 and recce in August 2014 schools etc ahead of the move. Reading this it seems I should start the application process now in the expectation of getting visa in 9 months time (say Mar/Apr). Then visit in the August to validate the visa. Once validated would be all set for our move in 2015. Any pitfalls in this plan? Grateful for any advice.

sounds sensible to me then there would be no rushing or panicking closer to time, once visa is granted you still have time to activate it you don't need to go right away and then you are also able to make multiple entry's on a partners visa.

Someone will be able to give you an exact time but i am sure its up to something like a year after your medicals and police checks for your IED initial enrty date.

First time i have offered advise hope its correct and helpful

  2. A little update from me.

I took my medical on the 13th of May and hadn't heard anything back about it, so emailed my case officer. In my medical exam she told me she had to note on my application that my BMI was over 30, and that I had some self-harm scars. My case officer emailed the medical people and they told her I'd been referred. Extremely upset about this because I thought it meant I wouldn't be able to go to Australia on July 1st...and I have paid for EVERYTHING! Flights booked, dog booked, everything!!! Anyway, thank goodness for VF, she was lovely and told me that it just means the medical officer looks at my case and decides if I'm all good or not (I presume I will be as I have zero health problems), and that if I do need to do any health testing, I can do that in Australia. I had to ask her one last time...can I still go? She said yes, she saw no reason why not, so I'm officially excited about leaving!

We fly in 27 days, woo hoo. Got my visitor visa through today too so will be able to wait out there without worrying.

Great news Tulip, VF was my CO too and thought she was great heard people on hear moaning about her, cant see why.

So glad for you, we fly out two weeks tomorrow now to perth, cant wait.

It does look like the waiting time is coming down too though so wonder how the next lot of applicants will get on.

  3. Just looking at the visa stats and I'm feeling a bit lonely as the only April partner 309/100 visa sumbitter. Has anyone else recently applied? It would be great to know who else is on a similar timeframe to me. I'm hoping to get some sort of official confirmation soon and a CO allocated... the money certainly whizzed out of our account at great speed!

And for anyone that's interested... my OH is the Australian, but his dual nationality allows him to work in the UK so we've been living together in Edinburgh for nearly 3 years. If everything goes to plan we'd like to be arriving in Sydney - where all his family are based - about this time next year. Just to add extra chaos and things to stress about into the mix, we're planning on getting married in Thailand on the way in February 2014 (when all our belongings are being shipped over) and do a backpacking honeymoon in SE Asia for a couple of months before we star our new lives together in OZ.... exciting times :)

we are edinburgh aswell, head out in June now

  4. Wah! So many September applications being granted! Hoping so much that I get a 'head offshore' email asap. I applied on September 4th!! And my tourist visa expires in 4 weeks! HURRY UP!! Think my CO (VF) is the slowest and most inflexible of all...I have heard others mention this too... Any other early September peeps out there??

I had her and thought she was great, straight to the point just what is required I think. Got ours through ahead of schedule.

  5. Yeah we are very excited. Flights booked for June 20th and can't wait to arrive in Perth out daughter is very excited and that gives us just enough time for my wife who is pregnant again to fly so our next one who is due August to be a wee ozzy baby. Hope you enjoy Asia I'm sure you will have a ball especially knowing when you come back it will be on the visa you been waiting on. Yeah it was early for us really thought it was gonna be June to be honest. Really happy.

Oznic22 we are married have one kid and another one on the way, I don't think that has anything to do with early grant, as its a family based visa all personal circumstances are important, I'm sure I read that somewhere. But certainly not gonna complain with my time period of grant. Good luck though
