Is it possible to find out the type of visa you will be granted before it is issued?
Liz
It depends if you have been in a relationship for longer than 2 years or not.

I didn't submit one, didn't need to, and wasn't requested one either.
how long after applying do you think they would ask for one if they were going to ?
-
Hi.
Anyone from the Febuary group heard anything about their application? I have a good c/o but I dont seem to get much from them.
I'm a Feb applicant too... Haven't heard anything since I did the medical.
-
I do when I ask, I asked recently if I would need to submit anything furhter after my medical/police and she told me I didn't need to and that after those were submitted it was just a waiting game.
who is your CO ?
-
I did attempt to contact her after my medical but didn't get a response. Good luck.
I tried contacting my CO after the medical too but didn't get a response, must be common enough!

Maybe your CO is on hols at the moment?

Surely they use out of office email replies ?

I can only give advise on what au have been told. Whilst applying for our visa two separate friends I met on here were in serious trouble for not declaring their convictions both fortunately were using an Agent who managed to advise them on the best way forward. It is very serious and people need to be aware that failing to admit to crimes is a comment on your character therefore you can fail the character test. Not that surprising really is it?
did they not declare their convictions on a previous entry into Australia ? Also, did they get their visa's in the end ?

sounds fairly positive for you then
I didn't receive any indication like you that there wouldn't be any problems, which makes me wonder! I was told to wait 3 months before doing my medical just.
I am wondering should I email my CO and ask if there will be any issues later on in the process, or is it likely I will get my grant.

Hi Kevin,
It seems that different CO's do things differently.
Some, upon initial contact (the email you get assigning your CO), give the HAP number and request that Medicals be done three months after date of application. Other CO's get in touch again around the three month mark with the HAP number advising to get it done then.
I would assume that if the CO requires further evidence from the start, they wouldn't give you the HAP number until their request for further info has been satisfied.
Hope that helps
The CO is content now with the amount of evidence provided, she requested more which we sent and have heard nothing back.
What I was saying though was I think everyone gets given their HAP number during the first few months, whether or not it may later be declined for character issues later on in the process...

My understanding - which could be wrong - is that they only ask for medicals once they are happy with everything else. They don't want to put people to the expense of a medical if their application is already doomed.
Are medicals not requested as soon as you hear back regarding your application and case officer assigned, whether or not your application may later be declined ? I could also be wrong but that was my understanding, as they need quite a bit of time to assess your application as regards character issues and stuff like that which needs more depth analysis.
I'd be curious to know which it is...
