I'm struggling with putting together OH reference for TRA. He is a cabinet maker and has worked for the same firm for 15 years which actually makes things quite difficult as he completely takes for-granted the work that he does! Our migration agent has said that we need to add more to his reference for TRA but I'm struggling I wondered if anyone had one that I could look at or some examples. Our migration agent has given us some example but they are for different occupations so not overly helpful other than for formatting.

I would be really grateful for any assistance

You need to write like you are telling someone how to do the job from start to finish for all aspects of the job, give a few examples of jobs/projects done as though you are telling an absolute novice, explaining the techniques and the tools used etc. refs I did we're 4/5 pages long and statement of experience was as long. I am not a cabinet maker but if you would like to see what I did for my skills assessment I am happy to share. PM me.

Hi all. Just some info if you are a PR with previous conviction and not yet left Oz and returned. I returned to Oz after a holiday and I thought that as I am now a Permanent Resident I wouldn't need to go through things again at Airport re previous conviction. Not the case. I was pulled aside and same questions asked again re convictions. The Officers were fine - it was only a quick conversation and the rest was about my trip. They did tell me, however, that I will be pulled aside every time I re-enter. Just wanted to let others know what to expect.

Hi. I got here on a 190 as a Painting Trades Worker. You will need a skills assessment via TRA. I did mine last September and I had to outline experience over the previous 3 years. I qualified to NVQ 3 and was initially told by an agent that they don't assess level 2 NVQs as comparable. However when I got my positive assessment through, they had in fact assessed my NVQ 2 as comparable rather than my level 3. I think it depends on the syllabus and whether the majority matches the Oz qualification topics. Have you done an apprenticeship/supervised on the job training as they require this not just the qualification. Without this you might need to do an AQF. Immi will only count work experience post-qualification. The skills assessment is really the most difficult part of the process as you have to provide so much information and detail but a lot of what you use for the assessment you also use for the visa application so by the time you get to that bit you have already gathered most of the required information. It would be worth you just having a quick chat to an agent ( even though they gave me the info about the level 2, they were very helpful overall and checked all the info before I submitted). I am in Perth and the good news is there is plenty of work here for painters. Good money, plenty of hours - I haven't had a day out of work since I first came here (except when out of choice for a bit of travelling) over 2 years ago (originally came on a WHV and even did my regional as a painter in NT) Have a look on Seek.com.au, jobrapido and indeed and gumtree.com.au is a good source as always jobs posted on there for painters. Don't know where you want to live but Perth Poms often has jobs posted and seen sponsorship opportunities posted on there for painters. There are forums for most of the states and all have a jobs section. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Can someone help please im 22 years qualified tradesman and applying for skills assessment for oz iv been self employed the entire time but working for contractors so I don't actually have a client base iv currently been with the same one for 8 years is that good enough? Also they want a transcript of my qualifications we only got certificates with city and guilds bit confusing how hard can it be im also an nvq assessor in my trade. Is this enough information for proof? .

i got a successful outcome last September and unless it's now changed only had to cover the last 3 years. My statement on experience did cover all my experience but you should be ok in providing a reference for the last contractor as this will cover the 3 years. The reference needs to be very detailed. I also have City & Guilds so your certificates should list the modules covered. I just did an attachment headed with each module and detailed what each one covered as I didn't have an actual transcript.

Does everyone with no live trace result need to get this subject access thing? We wrote a stat dec n thought that would be enough. .my husband got a caution when he was 15

Not always the case to b asked for a subject access. Had a couple of convictions when juvenile. Declared them, included on Form 80, wrote a stat dec, got 3 character refs and hey presto got the visa grant 4 weeks from lodgement. Good luck!

It won't be a reason to have a visa refusal as it is community service not prison. It is likely to either show up on the Police Check or as a 'No Live Trace' so you will need declare it, include on form 80 and do a statutory declaration outlining the circumstances and how he is now a reformed character. It is also a good idea to get a few character references saying what a good citizen he now is. Good luck.

Sorry can't help but think you were unlucky to be asked for it by CO. No Live Trace is more often accepted than not. Good luck with the process. Stressful but worth it.

Was it a Skills Assessment or just for licences? If you have your positive Skills Assessment you can go ahead and start the process

Just to update. Went for medical today. As expected urine test had trace of blood but they waited half an hour, told me to drink 2 glasses of water and did it again - no trace!! So passed the urine test. Huge relief. Medical was graded A. Just waiting for chest x-ray.

This happened to my Dad, blood in the urine, and he was asked to see a Urologist for an expert opinion.

He has exactly the same condition as you and once he had the report saying what it was and that there wasn't a kidney or prostate problem / anything serious he was accepted without any further nonsense.

With your medical make sure you are not over weight!

hopefully the letter I have from urologist from 14 years ago stating no kidney or prostrate problems or anything else found will be enough. Fingers crossed!! sooooooo stressful!!!!! And no I'm not overweight - very proud of my 6 pack!!

Hi, I have the same - I submitted letters from the consultant stating what investigations i'd had and that there was no explanation and it was unlikely to cause problems. I didn't have one of the letters, my GP photocopied it (charged me for copying) - shouldn't be a problem if you can send off the results of the investigations. It won't stop you getting the visa, but if you don't submit any evidence there's a chance they'd ask you to see a specialist.

I have the letter from the urologist when the tests (including a couple under anaesthetic so pretty in depth) were done 14 years ago stating he found nothing. I saw another doctor before him who did a couple of general tests before he referred me to a urologist for further investigation as a further precaution but I don't have anything from him and he's now retired. My GP only had the urologist letter. I'm hoping the letter from the urologist who states he found nothing will be enough.

People fail medicals if their health care is going to be a significant expense to the Australian tax payer. IS your condition likely to mean this?

No, apart, from the investigations 14 years ago, there has been no need for any treatment or medication since as no actual medical condition has been identified.

Hi all

i have had asymptomatic microscopic hematuria (traces of red blood cells in urine) for 14 years. It was found by chance, I had a full range of tests and investigations at the time and nothing sinister was found. I had a few follow ups but then didnt have to keep going. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. My dad has had the same for years (he's 60 now) and my brother the same. Is the fact that I have this likely to prevent me from getting my visa? This is the final hurdle.

We recently lodge our 190 application. I am the main applicant and my partner is the secondary applicant. We answered “no” to the question on the application “ has any applicant ever been convicted of a crime or offence in any country (including any conviction which is now removed from official records)?”. When perhaps we should have answered “yes”.

 

My partner has a spent conviction, he was caught shop lifting 4 years ago from Coles supermarket. We assumed as it was a spent conviction, we did not have to declare it but it has shown up in his police clearance… are we now completely screwed?? What should we do?

Hi. What was the outcome to this? Did it get sorted? Did you have to provide statements/references? My OH had a juvenile conviction so his Police Check has come back No Live Trace as it was 14 years ago. I won't have a clue where to start with a statement or what needs to be in a reference:confused:
