  1. Hi, I am heading back to the UK on January 21st and looking to get rid of my Hyundai excel. The car is registered until the 21st of February and drives really well. There are a few problems with the car, the glovebox doesn't stay shut and the passenger door handle is broken on the outside but door can still be opened from the inside. The car is an automatic 1.6 petrol and is very economical on fuel. I have owned this car since August, when it was serviced, and iv had no problems with the way it drives at all. It is a 1998 model and the body work is in good condition for the year. The dash board has a few cracks in but was like this when I bought it, not sure what has caused it, possibly the heat? The car has about 235000km on the clock. I am looking for around $1400 but willing to negotiate a little. Any other questions feel free to ask me. Thanks.
  2. Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me out here, I have done my farm/wwoofing work to qualify for my 2nd year visa. But I am leaving Australia before I want to lodge my visa. Does anyone know if I need to get my paperwork signed from justice of the peace before I leave or not? Couple have people have told me I do and also been told I don't need to. Can anyone clear this up for me please. Thanks in advance
  3. I know there have been previous posts about insurance but I still haven't been able to find the answer to my question. A few people say we need to take out a policy that states it covers you for work, we have read the small print and still can't see anything to state it does cover us. Others say your employer will cover you once you start working for them. Obviously we are going to take travel insurance out but do we need one that covers us for work? Can anyone shed some light on this matter? Thanks.
  4. These places that you mentioned, Scarborough, Fremantle, and Northbridge, are these in the city centre? And with you mentioning backpackers I take it there would be plenty of hostels we could check into? I am travelling with my girlfriend, and we were thinking of looking to flat share, or maybe rent a room, do you think that would be easily enough to do? Do you think we could find work easily enough there to, any sort of work not really doesn't have to construction for me. We not really going with a plan but would like to be in Sydney for New Year, hence the reason we are thinking of trying Perth early on. Thanks.
  5. That sounds good to me! So I take it your there, or you've been there? How was it finding accommodation? I'm a roofing joiner/timber frame erector. Do you think there would be work there for me? Cheers.

    Perth

I am arriving in Sydney in 3 weeks times but considering heading over to Perth not long after. I was just wondering what anyone thinks of Perth. How is it finding accommodation, work etc. any information would be great. Thanks!!
  7. Hi, I am arriving in Sydney in June and was just wondering how people have found it trying to get work and the best ways to go about it? Does anyone know of any recruitment agencies I could look at before arriving in Oz? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi, we booked our package with Round The World Experts and I was just wondering if anyone else had booked with these, and if so what the thought of the service? The service we have had here in the UK has been great to help us get out flights sorted out and a reasonable price, we also booked a package where we have a 4 nights bed and breakfast in a hostel, transfers from the airport, we get help setting a bank account up and our tax stuff so we can start work immediately, mobile phones and SIM cards and various other stuff. If anyone has done anything similar to this it would be great to hear from you and what you thought. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks for the replies. Like Shaunna said what sort of information would they need from us? As I said in my original post we have never rented or owed a home here in England, would this be a problem? It would be great if we could find a place before we get over there but I guess this would be very difficult if not impossible? Thanks again.
  10. Thanks for the reply, I will check out there website when I get a chance. I don't suppose you know of any other timber framing companies I could maybe try? Also, is there any specific safety/training cards that are revisited for sites in Australia? I have my CSCS cards over here but not sure if they are the same sort of system there? Thanks.
  11. I'm a timber frame erector and arriving in sydney in June on a HWV, is timber framing big in Australia and do you think I would find a job easily enough? I have 4 and a half years experience. Thanks.
  12. Hi, I'm just after some help and information. Me and my girlfriend have a years holiday working visa and are arriving in Sydney in June. We have accommodation for our first 4 nights in Kent street, but after that we are hoping to find ourselves a flat to rent. We are wondering if there are any nice areas near to beaches etc. that people would recommend, and roughly how much we would be paying to rent, preferably a furnished place. We have never rented or owned a home here in England so I don't know if this would be a problem over in Australia to regards to bill payments etc.? Also if anyone could give us any information on what it's like to find jobs that's would be great to. I am a timber frame erector, and my girlfriend currently works in a supermarket but we are willing to give anything a go. Thanks.
