  1. Thanks again for some great advice guys... yes not much in terms of jobs in the GC itself although I have found one company which uses the same software I use/have experience with so will get onto them quicksmart - but the majority of the jobs are in Brisabne. I will keep you informed of what happens and yes I would be up for a catch up and a couple of cold ones cheers
  2. Thanks for the responses guys, the train journey sounds okay and is the same as I am doing now. I will be getting a job first for sure, if there is a 3 month probation with the job I we will rent first then take it from there. I work in Architecture and there are a few jobs going in Brisbane which I would have a good chance of getting but unfortunately none in the GC... I like Hope Island, and we would come up for a few days to check it out and other areas.. Mate your the same age as me, I am 40 and my wife is 34 also.. Good luck with the baby, hope it all works out Cheers
  3. Hi there This is my first post on the forum and would appreciate some advice from anyone currently living in the GC (Hope Island and surrounding areas). We have been living in Oz for 10 years, been working and living in Sydney all that time. Me, my wife and baby daughter currently live in Sutherlandshire (near Cronulla). It's time for a cgange.... I am seriously thinking of taking a job in Brisbane and we would move to the GC, initailly to rent for a few months and to 'suss it all out' but then to buy after that (we just sold our apartment here). I think I can handle the commute as I have been doing 1hr 10m from the Shire to Neutral Bay (the office) for the last 5 yrs. Are the trains packed in the mornings? Does everyone drive to nearest station (park and ride)? We really like the look of Hope Island, what's it like to live in this area? Amenities,Schools, things to do etc?? Is it more retired people we are late 30's so would be looking for activites for when the little one grows up etc. Any one on here the same age living there with children? Any advice would be very much aprreciated.. Many thanks
