  2. Thank you wubbldoos and MTT very useful information.....now to get on the phone
  3. Problem with UK,Marisa, is grid locked roads (specially weekends and bank holidays) and pubs are closing down at the rate of 27 a day.:arghh:
  4. WOW!! That is so cheap, can you tell me who you were quoted by please?
  5. Hi Baz, who gave you such a good quote? we've been quoted between 4100 and 4600 pounds for a 20 foot container from Somerset to Perth (Mandurah)
  6. Head kicked in in Liverpool, nearly murdered by mafia like gang in Bristol, threatened in Yeovil, but nothing in 34 years in Perth other than theft from taxman, councils, utility providers and employers,
  7. Don't get me wrong. I'm merely telling him to really give consideration to his decision. I was back in Perth 2 years ago and when I returned to the UK I considered life appeared quite a lot better in Perth and that's why we are returning. But everyone to his/her own.
  8. Think long and hard before committing yourself..There are hard times and severe austerity here in the UK. We've been here 4 years now and have seen real degeneration in living standards.
  9. Out of interest Que Sera Sera, did you use a removals company and if so were they ok?
  10. Thank you for your best wishes and yes, I remember lighting the log burner during the colder weather even in Sunny Sorrento where we lived (old Sorrento that is)
  11. Which economy is heading the wrong way? I'm not sure which Southport you are in, so not sure which country you are referring to UK or Oz?
  12. What concerns does Perth present now?
  13. Thank you starlight. To quote Aussie style...."Bloody oath I will"
  14. We bought a house here on Exmoor. It looks like we've sold it now but despite the media hype we've lost money on it. I think the exchange rate is on our side so a loss on the sale price is negated by the exchange rate.:skeptical:
  15. I see you moved from Bristol to Mandurah. We will be moving from Exmoor to Mandurah (Wannanup) Actually like Bristol as a UK city. I once lived in Clifton and worked at Ashton Gate.
  16. UK pension will only be 25 quid a week DWP inform me but I will continue getting my Oz pension (partial). Wifey is not keen on caravans, so grey nomading is out. Probably will look around Asia, quite like Bali, but will do a lot of touring the Margaret River and SW vineyards.
  17. Hi, Lakelands eh! We still have a block at Wannanup, so will build there when we get back :daydreaming:
  18. Yeah love Adelaide, central markets are brilliant, much better food choices than Perth. Keep on enjoying
  19. You will not regret the choice.....believe me, but you have to work on it for awhile until you can relax. Oh! and forget the past....it's all about the future.
  20. Ah yes, I became an Aussie citizen 30 years ago, so "No worries" about any visas.
  21. Spain, France, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Malta, Madeira, Morroco
  22. No Paul, I retired and we wanted to see a lot more of Europe which we have done and now we are pretty well travelled out and would rather be back in the sun.
  23. Really? with all that hot air and steaming BS from the big building.
