  1. Your probably exactly right in the "Fear of the unknown" element. Just as an aside, does anyone know how i would be fixed for sending money back to the uk to cover some existing payments that need to be made. I'm assuming that if i keep my current bank account then this would simply be a case of transfering the money to cover them. thanks
  2. Thanks again for all the responses. I think that despite my previous sessions of consideration, i need to have another good "sit down and think" session. In discussions that i have had through the agency who found me the job the company are increasingly keen to get me out to them as soon as possible, and do seem to be willing to releave any of my initial concerns by helping out where the can. As has been said, if i dont try i wont know and this is something that i have considered alot. But theres something holding me back as it stands and i cant really be fully certain what that is!
  3. I think that they are looking for some indocation from me by monday MC, so the clock is ticking. In addition to what you mentioned before emma, i also have my parents and grandmother which is a major concern in a similar way to yourself. There are so many elements to consider, and with so many conotations that the whole thing is sending me into a spin on a daily basis. I suppose the most important decision is where i believe that i would be happiest. My daughter has been supportive towards the decision in telling me to do what i think is right. and as hard as it is not being with her right now, i think that having to walk away if things dont work out would be even more difficult.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. The company are offering to take care of all the 457 elements including the fees (Which i thought were actually much more than they are) and also getting me out there. They have also said that after a year they would be willing to cover the PR application aswel if this is what i wanted to do. emma111, all the points that you have made are things that i have considered, and as you say I have been trying to produce a list of Pro's and Con's to help me in the decision making. Of course my daughter is a pull and thats no doubt, although one consideration is the amount of quality time i would get with her while working over and above just travelling to oz to be with her out of school for 3 or 4 weeks a year. the whole thing seems very much likened to standing on the edge of a bungee platform!
  5. HI all members. Ive been reading through the form for the past few days specifically on a variety of subjects like living costs etc. I'm 32 yo single guy from south yorkshire and have been offered a job in perth. My daughter already lives there with her mum and this was my main driver behind looking for work. Ive been to perth a couple of times in the last 6 months and liked what i saw. Now though ive been offered a job on a 457 with what i believe to be a decent salary (from what i can guage from other peoples advice). Ive been milling this over in my mind now for over a week and need to make some kind of decision by monday. The company seem to be really good and helpful, and the job role is the same as here in the uk, although with variations (to be expected) but now I'm not so sure that its for me. I have a good life here with great friends and family, and this would all be left behind me, in exchange for the possible oppertunity to see my daughter more frequently. The whole thing is exceptionally daunting right now and is stressing me out quite a bit. Any experiences/advice would be appreciated. Thanks
