  1. Ok so husband has activated his residency visa my son and I have dual nationality house sold in few days on the market sale goes through next week or so and now I'm having a wobble!! Main reason is I was supposed to be going out with work who then told last week position won't be Available just yet. So ths means unless we let our sale fall through we will need to go into rental nt ideal given we are coming up to Xmas Husbands not had any luck finding work he is a highly qualified engineer but just seems nothing in his expertise . With my work messing e around I've looked into other options (need to explore this further) but I've more or less been told I won't get part time work and at a comparable salary to what I'm on My mother who I'm not to close to and brother who I don't speak to live in perth. We do ave one set of friends out their but no one else really. Just feel we have good paid jobs good work life balance great friends etc ATM and going to be giving it all up! We want to have another baby and hoped to start trying in the new year but we are in limbo I'd also need to work in oz a bit before eligible for maternity leave. So our thoughts are go into rental apply for jobs in oz and if one or two come up were in a quick position to move otherwise if no joy look at buying another house (bigger than our current one to accommodate growing family) what would others do in this situation ? Shoud add I grew up in oz always thought I'd go back to raise my son in the outdoors life but now I'm asking myself is all this with work falling through a sign or just a mere stumbling block?
  2. Seems a lot of us are in a similar position really. My husband has been looking and their seems to be more opportunities work wise for him in Brisbane. My company have offices in both Perth and Brisbane so if anything comes work wise in Brisbane i'll speak to my firm about a transfer to Brisbane instead of Perth. However with our stuff still not shipped and our buyers honeymooning so unable to exchane we have decided we think its best to stay until January and then head over to Oz (perth or Brisbane) in the new year. We have a little boy who turns 3 in December and with xmas round the corner we didn't want to be spending it without any of our familiar things and feeling down and home sick over the festitivites. Hopefully our buyers (first time buyers) will agree to moving in in the new year, as I really can do without uprooting us and moving into rental in the short term. From what I can see Flights, accommodation etc will all drop significantly in the new year, Has anyone else found this?
  3. Buttons 1 we are completeley in the same boat. I am transferring with my firm however they are still yet to confirm my salary and offer me a contract despite knowing that I will be moving for the last 12 months. House sold wihtin a week on the market to first time buyers so things going quick on that front. Should exchange early october with a view to getting out then. Were looking at short term fully furnished and then unfurnished long term when our belongings arrive. Can't sort the long term out until we arrive, little point in even looking given they won't allow you to bid for the property without being present and also will not take bookings ie they want it to go the minute they put it on! as for the short term let that is really expensive. Well it seems it like i say my salary hasn't been confirmed yet! It all gets tricky for us as we have to factor in childcare, husband dosent have a job atm so it wouldnt be the end of the world for him to stay at home with little one however for continuity i'd like our nearly 3 year old to continue with some sort of nursery as too long out of it will make it difficult for him to settle back in to the routine. i'm up and down all the time too!
  4. Hi happy little Vegemite!!! My situation almost identical born in UK emigrated to perth age 3 and then moved back to UK at 18! Just done 10 years and I've truly loved it but look back on my childhood fondly and feel kids in oz def get better end f the deal! When are you moving over then? X
  5. Hi thanks all for your pearls of wisdom x happy littlevegemite are you from oz? I def think the place has changed but I think if we don't take the jump we will never do it! Hubby has no job to go to ATM so ill prob have to go full time initially dreading that as will miss my son terribly but I'm sure it won't be forever came across this quote today when I have scared days will think of this ... Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love the people you treat right and forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason if you get a chance take it if it changes your life let it nobody said it would be easy thry just promised it would be worth it .
  6. Thanks all totally agree it won't be the same as wat I grew up with but having had opportunity to look at both sides of the coin def feel my son will thrive. We both suffer with seasonal asthma and with the generally very damp weather in manchester it means life pretty miserable this is the first summer I can remember since I moved back 10 years ago that we had three consistent nice weeks without rain! I have friends back in perth still and a mum albeit were not close so be nice for my son to send time with his nanna. I guess just scared as things are good atm I've made a lovely life for myself but I want to put my son first and still think he will love it. My hubby sees it as a huge adventure and new challenge just surprised to here more ppl don't get these niggles and how they overcame them!
  7. Hi, Not posted on here before, but my husband frequents the site regularly. We put our house on the market and sold it above the asking price within one week we were shocked to say the least! Things are now moving very fast for us and i'm starting to brick it! Were due to leave end of Sept/Oct. Im sure this is normal but wanted some advice/feelings from others. I will be transferring wiht my employers, but my husband a Chartered Civil Engineer dosen't as of yet have work. When we visited in April (backround is I grew up in Perth but have been in the UK 10 years now) we liked the area of Woodvale, Joondalup, Edgewater near the trainline. Ive been looking at accommodation rentals intiially but I havent been overly impressed with what I have seen. I am so concerned I am going to uproot my family and 2.5 year old and I don't know where to base ourselves and where is the best place for childcare it all has to be done via internet which is no where near as good as in person! We have a lovely home, nice jobs, toddler very settled and UK even had a few nice weeks of summer! My motivator for returning is I feel I had a great childhood, I think Auz is the land of opportunity but times seem to be changing. If your in a similar situation or are in Perth now but remember feeling overwhelmed like this would love to hear from you Thanks x
