  1. Has any one applied for subclass 143 from subclass 173 in last 6 months? I have applied for 173 to 143 in October, received acknowledgment and request for AOS and Police check in November, submitted documents in January. Since then I have not heard from Department of immigration. I had sent them a general enquiry but received an automatic reply. Can anyone tell me what is the usual waiting period?

  2. Thank you everyone for your comments on healthcare for 143/173 visa holders. I did do quite a bit of research last night and printed off loads of stuff from various sites. I even now know how much our prescription charges would be and its not scary at all!

I spoke to our daughter too and she explained bits of it to me aswell.

I'll be stressing about the cost of cars and insurance soon....haha! Oh, and if anyone has any helpful hints and tips on preparation for a rental, that would be great!

    Thanks again! Val

Rental properties depend on the state, suburb and the type of property you want to rent. I rented a property after inspecting several houses through realestate.com.au. I selected and applied for 2/3 houses , rented the offer I got first. I am not sure which state you will be living in. I have some fare idea about Victoria.

I first did a homework for renting like: my budget, requirement and suburb. Then I looked for that range through realestate.com.au. You can also visit domain.com.au but almost the houses are commmon in both the websites. There are several websites but I found these two more useful. As my budget was not very high, I had to compromise on the suburb and the type of house. I also chose to live near public transport as I do not use my cars for going to the CBD. There is no issue for international people for the rental application being approved. No track is required. You can provide your international documents as well.

I have stated the steps I followed. Hope this helps you.

  3. Hi everyone!

I arrived in Australia in mid 2014 with subclass 173. I applied for 143 in October. A week later I received acknowledgment letter with AOS and AFP request. I submitted my AOS and AFP documents in beginning Feb 2015. I received an email from DIBP stating they are currently working on July applications. Does that mean it may take another 4-5 months to get 143 finalised?

Does 143 from 173 take so much time? Has anyone applied recently or around my time? Any experience of 173 to 143 shared will be appreciated.

  4. Hi all,

I will be now applying from 173 to 143 visa. I just want to confirm that: I need to fill up form 47PT and form 40. Submit one passport size photo, certified copy of passport and first visa charge $325. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I will appreciate if anyone can throw some light on the processing time of 173 to 143.

  5. Hi Blueray, I dont know anything about VEVO, but I validated my CPV 173 in January 2013, have now applied for 143, I have been working in Australia since I arrived, the CPV has unlimited working rights.

Thanks summerdaisy. I am trying for jobs but in most of the places like banks and govt positions, they are asking for permanent residents or citizens. I have seen in the website that subclass 173 has work rights. As currently DIBP is giving electronic visa, they are keeping all details online on a system called VEVO where employers can see all applicants work rights. Anyway thanks again.

  6. Has anyone used VEVO? How do we see our work right ( for subclass 173) on DIAC website? On DIAC website in CPV subclas 173 under Visa Holders, under what this visa lets you do, it is mentioned , you have work and study right under this visa. However, in vevo form you do not see any work right . It is difficult to apply for jobs if you do not have work right mentioned in vevo as the employers check your vevo online to confirm your work right in Australia.

Does any one have any information about this? Is anyone working in Australia in CPV 173?

  7. Thanks Blueray, it's going to be a long and bunny ride I reckon, I suppose we just have to try and put it to the back of our minds for a few months now we've lodged it.

    Regard

    Steve2

Hi Steve2 I will share my experience with you. I had applied January'13 end, filled up all required forms and certified copies of all documents. Posted through my son in Australia. My son's credit card was debited in Feb end. I waited for the acknowledgment and started chasing them March beginning, March end I received acknowledgment. I simply forgot about the visa. I spent maximum time in Australia. Received request for medical in May, had some issues with passport, sorted it out and sent medical and PCC. Immediately received pre-grant letter and 2nd VAC request. I already had money ready in Australia. My son made the Bank cheque and posted it. I received my visa after 8 days.

Yours is 143, so it may take 2/3 months extra. If you have applied in June'14 , you will receive acknowledgment in September/october....if not then September end , you can send enquiry through web. You will also receive request for PCC, medical and AOS which you need to do after 10 months. It is always better to do get medical done once the CO requests and AOS after the medical. Medical takes one day as these days it is E-medical that the doctors upload instantly. Wait for few days ....if there is any issue DIBP will inform you immediately. Then go for AOS....if the proper process of AOS is followed I do not think it will take much time. Once these are done , you will receive 2nd VAC request. As soon as they receive your 2nd VAC payment your visa will be granted. you can expect for all these at least 20 months from your application or 18 months from acknowledgement date, that is my experience. Until Nov/Dec'15. it is always better to expect late than being impatient. I expected my visa to come in November and I got it in July.

Hope this helps you. If you want to know about anything please feel free to ask. I had couple of issues and I have communicated with DIBP number of times.

  8. Hi all!

Once you have put in the application for a 143 parent visa, can you stay longer than three months as a visitor while it is going through? I noticed you can no longer apply for a 676, does anyone know if there is a relacement for this?

Yes you can if your son/daughter is an Australian citizen or permanent resident. They can sponsor your for a long stay visa of 3 years (if you have travelled to Australia before) and you can stay there maximum 1 year at a time in 18 months. it is most probably visitor visa subclass 600 now. check this link http://www.immi.gov.au/legislation/amendments/2012/121124/lc24112012-02.htm. While filling up the form, you need to choose length of stay as 12 months.

I have this visa but I had applied when it was 676. Now 676 is 600 but they have no where mentioned that this provision has been discontinued. So you need to check with your local High Commission.

  9. Usually DIAC is concerned primarily about major illnesses like Tuberculosis, HIV, Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Heart disease or any other major illness. If anyone has these illnesses, he/she will know it before going for medical. In eHealth medical, the tests done are ....Blood test, Urine test, Blood pressure , height, eight, eye power and chest Xray. You are supposed to register online on DIAC website with your HAP ID, fill up an eForm online before going for medical and declare if you have any illness or surgery history. So if anyone is clear about everything then there is a least chance of any issue. DIAC is mainly concerned about the expenditure that will incur on the migrant after migration. As for me , I do periodic check up of my health and I know my health condition, hence , I was not all that worried about medical. Fisher1 is correct, one can get a premedical check up done if he/she has any doubt. Once you do medical for DIAC the doctor or nursing home is not supposed to disclose the result to you unless you have some one known there. If anyone wants to know which all tests the panel doctors do then download this PDF file... https://www.dropbox.com/s/5kerpwis2gu2hnb/panel-doctors-instructions.pdf . I hope this will help many. This is the detailed instructions for panel doctors so we know in detail how the medical is done.

  10. Hi everyone

To those of you who have had their eHealth medicals offshore, particularly in the UK, can you tell me how and when the results were communicated to you

I know the panel doctor cannot divulge the info , he sends the results to OZ, but nowhere on the DIAC/DIBP sites is there an indication how the applicant is notified

    Can anyone help please ?

    Hi Barry,

I have done offshore eHealth medial couple of times for various visas. You are never communicated or notified about the results if it is a paper application like contributory parent visa. You can see the medical status (whether DIAC has received it or not) if you apply online. About the result, you are communicated only if there is any issue.

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

  11. Hi Blueray

I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing problems processing your documents

If you are based in the UK , it is possible to obtain a replacement passport at short notice by contacting your nearest Passport Office(the addresses are available on the internet by inputting your post code) and telephoning them to arrange an appointment

As regards the police check timescale it is also possible to have it completed in 2 working days from the receipt of the application by them, so probably about 5 days in all. This premium service costs £80 as against the standard £45

    hope this helps

    cheers Barry

Thanks Barry001 for your reply. No, I am not in the UK and that is why I have mentioned I need 60 to 90 days to sort out this issue. I hope I will get some time from my CO.

  12. Hi all, I am in deep trouble. Please help me. DIAC has given me 28 days to submit all the documents and out of which 10 days have already gone. I have to get my passport reissued and then get my police clearance certificate done and this would take approx 60 to 90 days. Will DIAC give me so much extension of time? I have submitted all other documents. I am really tensed. I have no idea about how much extension at the most does DIAC give to people. Please help me if you are aware of this or if anyone has gone through similar case.

I know I am repeating the issue but I haven't yet heard of any approximate time of extension from any forum member.

  13. Hi, Blueray we went

t through the whole process in 2010-2011 and had all the usual problems, meds, passports, etc, etc' we kept our CO informed of everything no matter how trivial and our 173 went through in about one year, the Australian Government do. Wants and need your Money. Good luck. Mike.

Thanks MikeMavis. You have been very helpful informing this. I am a bit tensed. Hope everything goes smooth.

  14. Hi

I think if you email your CO and explain the circumstances I'm sure he/she will allow you time to renew your passport and then apply for the PCC

As far as I am aware the only occasion when they give you a deadline is when they are requesting the final VAC payment prior to granting the visa

    hope this helps

ps don't forget to include the case officers name and team, together with your application file reference . Also include the reference FRM80s (this reference covers form 80 and PCC queries) in the email subject line

    cheers Veronique

Thank you so much Veronique. Thanks for your help.

  15. Hi all, My Co is assigned and asked for medical and pcc. My medical is done but when I went for pcc, passport office discovered that my passport is slightly damaged (small mark), hence, they asked me to get it reissued and then get the pcc. It will take some time to go through the entire procedure. Can anyone please advice as should I ask for extension of time from my CO? Will CO give me an extension? If CO gives extension, how much more time they usually give? I am quite tensed about this matter as this was not expected. Any help will be appreciated.

  16. Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how do you come to know that your visa application has been allocated a CO? Do they give any reference number or name or email id in the letter? I have received a letter requesting for documents but no CO name or CO allocation is mentioned anywhere in the email. Your reply is appreciated.

  17. Hello again Blueray.

This is one of those situations where we as migration agents would be able to secure the comfort you need - it is usually much easier for us to communicate with people in the Department who can make things happen.

I know it shouldn't be that way, but your experiences are the reality behind the Department's rhetoric.

    Best regards.

You are absolutely right Alan, now I feel the same. This was not expected though, hence, I never thought of going through a migration agent.

Anyway, I am happy that I got the document checklist.

I want to know that should I send only Form 80 or all the documents. I don't know who is my case officer...no name or team is mentioned below the email for request of documents....it is only regards an parent visa centre. So i presume that my case officer is not allotted but which all documents did they ask for? all including medical and pcc or just form 80? they mentioned to send just the documents. I am thinking of sending all including Pcc and medical.

Moreover, they have sent HAP ID for my spouse stating him as a secondary applicant, whereas I am the sole applicant. I know that I need to get his medical done as well but as a secondary applicant? or a non-migrant? I am confused. Please help me Alan.

Many many thanks to you for helping me all the time.

    Regards,
