  1. Happy days!

Finally after all the hassles and challenges, I logged into my immi account late last night (for what felt like the hundredth time yesterday alone) and at 7pm it had moved straight to finalised (nothing further requested so the new police certs that are on their way (ours expired from UK and AUS last month) are a waste of time and money!!), our 186 has been granted! Awaiting the official email from our MA but having logged in again this morning there are now grant letters on the account also! NSW PESE.

Good luck to each and every one of you still waiting, I have total empathy with the ones who have waited longer and wish you a speedy resolution, to the ones coming to 'the party' recently and flying through the timings - congratulations also, you don't know how 'lucky' you are to have missed out on months / years of uncertainty and concern 🙂 . Never give up, stay strong and hopefully sooner rather than later you'll all have your grants also.

Thanks to those who give up their time to assist on this forum - your patience is a virtue and you all help quell nerves and manage expectations - thank you so much for the sage advice you continue to offer the larger community - its invaluable.

Can someone update me on the spreadsheet please - July 2018, "BFC" - many thanks. Im not sure if we received the famous email on 4th April as we had just landed in the UK but it maybe no coincidence that the MA advised us to get our medicals done ASAP on that date...? I can only assume we (or maybe other clients of theirs) received the email??!?

The best advice was to put a bottle of champagne 'on ice' - I put one in the fridge at the weekend with wishful thinking and its getting drunk tonight!

    Thanks all!

    Hello guys.

I'm new to this forum and I'm going to share my situation to see if you have seen any case like mine so then you can give me your opinion.

I had applied nomination and visa Feb/2019 as an Electronic Engineer (HR), 2 applicants both engineers.  I had my medical exams requested in April/2019.

I do not know my nomination status as I don't want to be bothering the company owners requesting that information. As it was informed by someone that this info is only available to them.

I'm in a current student visa until March/2020 because my wife is studying a Master of Engineer.

The company that I work for has an over 10milion annual turn over, around 120 employees here in Perth, plus around 50 more between Queensland, and Victoria

I am in the Direct Entry Scheme.

    Here is my question.

Do you think that because I am still having a valid visa until March next year they immigration might postpone my case to analyses after my current visa expire?

No, the fact you are on a student visa will have no bearing on when they review your new application. They will review it when they get to it - when that might be is the million dollar question, recently some 'new' applications have bene done and dusted in weeks whilst there are some still waiting almost two years (or more!)... welcome to the waiting game and good luck!

Silent reader but more good news today!

457 - 186 TRT Advertising Specialist from the UK.

Lodged 9/04, asked for medical/police checks 17/04, supplied all info 29/04, visa granted 30/04 - 12 working days is craziness, so lucky!

Apparently more visas have been processed this month than in the last year. Something amazing is happening over there at the minute. Good luck to all waiting, positive change at immigration has to be good news for all!

wow, I'm hoping that. after my medicals next week I'll get the same news - I'm doing the same as you - 457 - 186 TRT Advertising Specialist from the UK.

    Hi guys,

I've been following this discussion for a while now, but just thought I'd share some good news and give some people hope as it can sometimes be processed quickly.

Our PR was granted today, but amazingly we only put the application in on 24th March.

    Here is my timeline:

    Occupation: Sales manager
    State: NSW
    Birth Country: UK
    Stream: 457 - 186 TRT
    Number of applicants: 4
ENS 186 Visa and Nomination applied:  March 24th 2019
-- Nomination approved on the 30th April 2019
Visa Granted on the 30th April 2019
    IMMI Status: Finalized

Keep positive. It will happen eventually.

    Steve

Wow! Congratulations - thats amazingly fast!! Can I ask how large your Company is and have they successfully sponsored many applicants perviously?

If you were in the UK and going for a holiday in Tenerife, would you get holiday insurance? It's exactly the same.

If you were going to Tenerife, you wouldn't be trying to buy an insurance policy in Tenerife, you'd be buying one where you live.  It's exactly the same.

I get that, in fairness I suppose I was asking more for recommendations on where to get best value on travel insurance and could've phrased it better....

  6. Hi all, just wondering if travel insurance is necessary for a 3 week trip back to the UK? We (family of 4) have been in Sydney 4 years now (currently in process of applying for PR in case it makes a difference), heading back in a. couple of weeks for 3 weeks - do we require travel insurance and either way where is the best place to purchase it from here in Australia?

    Thanks in advance

Yes I read something similar.  I have asked them to send me a revised payment cost noting that they have already confirmed Class 2 for me...

    Thanks again.

can you advise who you wrote to / contacted as I need to do the same, when I look online they are saying I need to pay over £730 per year "missing" in my record.

    Thanks!

  8. my MA advised us not to do the medicals at the time of application due to the length of time it was taking to assess at that stage (July 2018), we are going to do them next month (February), we however did complete the Form 80's and also got our UK and AFP police checks in place and submitted all other paperwork to be as 'decision ready' as we possibly could...

I don't think I want to risk anything, if i dont change my name then i wont need to change my passport and i'm not planning on moving any time soon so i think if i just wait till after PR it will be easier?

I imagine you have to inform them if your marital status changed though - this would have an impact on your application? Will they be included on your application or not for example?

    Hi Flappers263,

thanks so much for the reply and the helpful links, really good to know there is some routes for him to go down. Are you involved with any yourself?

No worries - we are involved with the NSFA team - Northern Tigers with their SAP licence - I would say that whilst its improving over here its a long way off being like the UK system, this is a good and a bad thing depending upon your perspective and objectives!

Here's a link to the FFA site to find clubs  https://www.playfootball.com.au/#

Don't know what it's like over East, here in WA you do pay a registration fee - some goes to the club and some to the organisation (e.g. here it's Football west).

Registrations fees vary a lot depending on the club, which league they're playing in etc.,  My son's 18 and plays state league, he moved clubs this year and his registration fees for that club were $550

We are paying $1500 this year for a 8 year old (U9's) under the SAP programme...

  12. Found this also - looks like SAP is expanding in the Newcastle region also - http://newcastlefootball.com.au/2018-premier-club-sap-kicks-off-across-northern-nsw/

    http://northernnswfootball.com.au/northern-nsw-football-awards-premier-club-skill-acquisition-program-licenses/

Ive just remembered that there is a SAP team called 'Emerging Jets' which are affiliated with the Newcastle Jets and again are a good level (for over here anyway!)

  13. check out the SAP licence holder in the area and go for trials - my soon to be 9 year old trains 3 times a week and plays at weekends - we are with Northern Tigers and there is a very good SAP licence team playing out of Tuggerah - they are called Central Coast Mariners - https://www.ccmariners.com.au/news/sap - there might be something similar in Newcastle if thats too far a drive 4 times a week.

    Good luck!

  14. thank you for your reply. It's good to read. We are definitely not doing this for the money as we earn ok here and have a house whereas we know we'd possibly not ever own a house there and will be living in a small apartment for a long time. I'd never work as a solicitor again either I doubt so would earn less. It's hard to explain why we want to go. Quality of life? The time we get together as a family is scarce and maybe we want that little time to count more? So beaches, outdoor living etc? And I know Sydney has seasons and gets cold too but when you come from Wales and it's never nice and summer weekend plans get cancelled due to poor weather all the time. We spend thousands and thousands on holidays just to have time by the sea in the sun and spend so much money trying to keep our daughter entertained over school holidays and weekends. There's very little to do where we live. We all crave an adventure. It might be hard but life is short right? I'd love my daughter to see more of the world, go to a school with international students. There are lots of reasons. Thank you again

Sounds like you're doing it for the 'right' reasons - we spend more time together as a family (partly as a consequence of not knowing many outer people :) and partly out of choice!) and get out more but it isn't all sun and sandy beaches! Every weekend in the summer we goto different beaches and parks, sometimes they are almost empty as its 'only' mid 20's!!

Good luck with your final choice!

  15. I would say that after 18 months in Sydney you'd be able to do it on $150k - just - and it will depend upon what area you decide to rent in. If you need to commute to Bondi then don't even consider the North side of the harbour IMHO, we currently rent in West Pymble and I commute to Ultimo, I leave at 6.40 to get to work in 35 mins, if In left at 7 it would be an hour, worst case (heavy rain storms, poor drivers and driving conditions and traffic everywhere) it has taken 2 hours, when school holidays are on 20-25 minutes, BUT Sydney is great for a young family, we have a just 7 and a soon to be 5 year old and they love it here, the school we are in is great and I genuinely enjoy the drive to work as I get harbour views on the way in and cross the bridge every night on the way home...I earn less here than I did in London but overall the balance (for me / us) is better here, you will find your own way once you decide to move somewhere, you'll make expensive mistakes and you'll discover some great deals and savings also....just like anywhere in the world.

If you are committed and plan properly then you'll be fine, if you think its easy you'll fail, its hard, much harder than you can ever imagine at times and much more rewarding than you could ever have thought at other times. I wouldn't change it currently for anything, the Upper North Shore isn't for everyone, as Captain Roberto says its conservative and quiet on evenings (but after London maybe we enjoy it for that reason), however we can drive to the beach in 30 minutes or jump on the train to the CBD in 40 minutes....the best of both worlds.

In short, it doesn't come cheap, if money is the main reason you're moving then don't in my opinion. If you are willing to forego some 'luxuries' for a 'lifestyle' then perhaps its for you.

    Good luck

    Flapper

  16. we took 4 bikes and no problems, they checked all 4 also (could tell by the tape used to re-seal them) and we simply cleaned with a scrubbing brush and Milton liquid....they also checked all our shoes in the container but we walked through Sydney airport with dirty shoes from Singapore....!!!

  17. You could probably find a club with a 'kids friendly' policy, which many do have, as they try to maintain or build up their membership. Some people mock them, but I always enjoyed going along for the meat rafflle which many run.

There was a time when clubs were strictly adults only, with equally strict dress policies, but many have relaxed their rules. I don't know any of the clubs up that way, though. I should Google! Not much luck, though I did find a site set up by North Shore Mums which might be of interest. This seems like a good site for families on the North Shore.

Thanks - we've been to a few of them already and plan on scoping out a few more now Spring is here. I've also joined the local Bowlo (West Pymble) and the kids love it (they are really child friendly and the Asian food served up is good also) and the locals are really good in there also... not won the meat raffle yet but have a couple of bottles of wine :)

  18. Yes @MARYROSE02 we live a few doors down from that. It's the only pub! It's not so good, but it's ok. They sell cold beer [emoji106]

Its got one of the wonkiest pool tables I've ever played on!! we moved to Gordon 5 months ago and still steeling in but you're right on two fronts 1) not many pubs / bars up this way and 2) with two young boys we wouldn't use them anyway!!!

  19. VETASSESS does not assess the occupation you mentioned and the authority that does is notoriously difficult.

    and

From what you have posted, you might not need a skills assessment.

May I suggest that you consult a registered migration agent for an opinion?

Yes, in haste I put VETASSESS instead of AIM - i'll contact an agent now but was wondering if anyone could shed light in advance of that step...
