  1. Thanks Steven, I'll drop you a line when we arrive. You were lucky to short term accommodation there. What's Lugarno like? It keeps coming up on our property search.
  2. The time has gone so fast, not long now. Keen to know if anyone else is moving out next month and fancies meeting up. We're a family of 4, 2 kids aged 5&2. To begin with we have short term accommodation in Manly but then we're going to look at getting a place down in Oately or the surrounding areas. Hubby working in CBD would be good to hear from people in a similar situation .
  3. Great news, yesterday our 457 visa was approved in less than under 2 weeks which has been a massive shock to the system! we'll be arriving in sydney on 8th June and staying in manly till we get our house to rent sorted. We'd like to settle in Oatley. Is there anyone out there that fancies helping a family of 4 settle (2 kids 5yrs & 2yrs) we're going to needs loads of advice and a bit if support. Hubby working in CBD and I will be too once I've settled the children.
  4. I've posted on here a few times but not since my husband got his job offer! We're moving to sydney in June on a 457 with 2 children aged 2 & 5. We came out in march for a reccie and fell in love with manly but not the price tag that went with it! I think we we're in holiday mode so the draw of the beach took hold of us and when we looked at other areas they just didn't compare to manly. We looked at dee why, naraweena. Como and jannali all very different to get a comparison. My husband will be working in the CBD as soon as we arrive, shortly followed by myself so ideally we don't want to have a huge commute. Having kids we are naturally looking for a family friendly suburb with a good selection of shops and a school close by. So we need some advice and suggestions on location. Can anyone give any fews on oatley? We'd prefer a house rather than a unit. We've also looked into childcare, my eldest will go straight into school but we will need childcare for my daughter. We know the wait lists can be long so are considering a nanny again does anyone have any experience to share on this?
  5. Thanks guys, I got a bit worried this morning when I saw double!!!
  6. Please can someone clarify how much the school fees are for the school year in sydney. I've seen $4570 but I've also seen double that!!!
  7. Hi guys, my hubby and I am coming out to do a reccie and attend final interviews at the end of March. We want to explore the Sutherland Shire and the CBD as this is where we'll be hopefully living and commuting to. Can anyone recommend some reasonalbly priced self catering (with kitchen facilities) accommodation down there that would be an ideal base? thanks
  8. Can anyone help, or share advice!? Things are getting interesting now, hubby is at final stage interview with 2 companies so we've started to think about where we might live. In the uk we live in a rural area with plenty of countryside around us so we're not city people, we also both like being by the sea. We have 2 small children 41/2 and 2yrs old. Hubby's job will be in the CBD. So the dilemma I guess that everyone goes through is where to live. I reckon we'll have around $600 max to spend on a house (ideally) and will consider 2 bedrooms. Naturally we want to maximise our spend so we've been looking at Sutherland. Any ideas/comments welcome.
  9. Hi guys, my husband is at interview stage with 2 companies in Sydney. This has been done via Skype. We are planning on coming out to do a reccie in March so he can have final face to face interviews. During this time we want to take a look at subhurbs and schools etc. we want to look at shelly beach, Manly and como down in the shires. My husbands job will be in the CBd. We have 2 small children 2&4yrs.... Can anyone offer any advice. We'll be renting at first and on a 457 visa.
