1. Ah right,so we could maybe look into uni.So was your son out of education for a while until his new course started? We are the same,we have 3 sons,it's just I feel the oldest one is at the most crucial stage, education wise,so I'm looking at where he could fit in first,it is tricky, you just want them to slot in with the least upheaval possible (after you've moved them across the world) Thanks for your help.
2. No there's no one at all. It's going to be a difficult decision. Thanks for your help, any advice is much appreciated.
3.

Your user name caught my eye.... My name is Paul Escott, my wife is Kaye! A curious coincidence :-) good luck in your move, we live in Brisbane and have been here for five years now. We used to live in Portsmouth UK and still have difficulty in believing in just how much better life is now. All the best, Paul & Kay Escott

4. Hi,i'm not replying to your post but it does interest me as i'm in a similar position as you were so just wondering if you have any advice. We are moving to perth sometime before april 2014,we have a 16year old son who is due to start college this sept (we just received our visas today) We now obviously have to pull him out before he's even completed 1 year and i'm unsure of where he will fit in in the Oz education system? Its a btec in sport that he's doing and i'm extremely concerned that we are going to negatively effect his education. I hope you don't mind me getting in touch, thanks
5. Hi thanks for your reply. The problem is it's a 2year btec course and there's no one to stay with in the uk,he'll only have done up to 7months of it. I know it's extremely bad timing for him,I just don't know what to do. So in Oz,is year 11 & 12 the equivalent of our college study years? Then do they leave year 12 and start uni?
6. Hi,my family got our subclass 189 visa's accepted today,so we are extremely excited!! We have a 16year who is leaving school in england within the next month and he has enrolled on a btec level 3 sports and coaching course due to start in september. The problem is we are looking to move to perth sometime before april 2014 (house sale depending) What i'd like is some advice on what type of school /college to try to get him into.He will be 17 by then and I don't want him to miss too much time in education, although I know there will probably be a crossover time.Obviously he wants to be on a similar course,he wants to be a sports coach. Any advice would be much appreciated x
7. Well fingers crossed lucks on your side,it's a long enough process to begin with. We've already done the vetassess stuff and the ielts test (well the hubby has). There's no stone unturned with this emigration thing mind,it makes you wonder why we don't have such strict rules in this country! I'd like to be gone by next christmas but I think we'll be lucky if we are. How old are your kids? I'll be seeking advice on schools and colleges next! Have you chose a particular place in perth? It's tough to pinpoint somewhere when you have never been isn't it? xx
8. Hi,how long have you been going through it,so far? I'm so gutted about the whole horrible situation! x
9. Well I could be starting it sometime this week too! Like you say,it's ridiculous when they are absent parents and they've got this right over the children they don't see or support. I think it's expensive to do aswell. So,is your visa application on hold now until you get this sorted out? x
10. Hi Nicola, as your son is under 18 you need his dad's permission to take him to live abroad. It's ridiculous really because he's old enough to make his own mind up. My son is 16 in march and i'm really frustrated with it,especially as there's been no contact since he was 2 months old. You will need to get a declaration of consent, signed by your ex and witnessed by a solicitor (with a photo i.d) I hope you don't have any problems,it's not what you need is it, Kate x
11. Hi Laura, thanks for your reply. I totally sympathise with you,it's so frustrating isn't it! I have the same problem as you,if I do go through the courts I don't have his address and his mam told me he doesn't work (what a surprise) He signed papers for another of his kids to be adopted so I didn't think i'd have a problem but it's obviously all about the money, which I don't want and I would be prepared to tell the csa that but who's to say he'll sign even then,I feel a bit backed into a corner but don't know how long I should wait before going to a solicitor. So have you started proceedings yet? We are going to Perth, hopefully,my husband is starting a job in Singapore so we decided to go for the big move. Where are you planning on going? Kate x
12. Hi,thanks for your reply,When my son was a baby I went through the csa but never got anywhere and over the years i've had letters from them but with no results. I'm not aware of this outstanding balance at all,I'm just worried that he's obviously not trustworthy and won't turn up at solicitors and i'll end up in some ridiculous situation that I don't want. Is it a long process if I seek court action? I'm going to contact our oz agents tomorrow for advice but I thought people with some experience of this could help me x
13. Hi,can anyone give me some advice. My oldest son's father is not migrating with us,my son is 15 and has never had contact with his father. I have got in touch with my ex through his mother and he agreed to sign the declaration of consent. He is now saying he won't sign unless I contact csa and tell them I don't want any maintenence payments from him ( I have never had any) as he has an outstanding bill they are chasing him for. I feel like it is more hassle than it's worth dealing with him and i'm thinking of pursuing it through the courts. Does anyone have any experience of this and any advice on how long it takes, what it entails etc? Thanks, Kate x
