I'm from Ireland, now living in Melbourne and have family and friends in both countries. The people, I've found to be extremely friendly in both places. Although I earn more over here, my job is very similar to what it was like at home but it's takes me much longer travelling to work here. The weather, even in Melbourne wins hands down over Ireland. I love my life in Australia and I agree with Paul about finding the craic in both countries. Having said that though, I will eventually return home at some stage in my future, just don't know when yet! Best of luck with whatever country you decide on.

State sponsorship is the preliminary bit that allows you to apply for PR and gives you extra points. I'm wondering if all cases take up to 3 months for Victoria state sponsorship or does it depend on your occupation? What I mean is, are some occupations processed faster than others depending on their occupation ceilings?

Hi I-F, I'm interested in this too as Victoria state nomination seems to be different from the other states. Reading their website it seems you apply for state nomination first then your EOI. Hopefully someone who has done this recently will be along soon to clarify

Thanks very much to you both I'm actually a teacher and was asking on behalf of a friend who is a dietitian. You're right the requirements are different. She has to sit exams for her skills assessment as a dietitian but not as a nutritionist. Thanks again anyway for your help x

Hi there I applied for my 190 visa 2 weeks ago and as yet have not had my medical. My sister is just about to apply for her 190 visa too. My question is can we go ahead and arrange medicals or do we have to wait for them to be requested by a CO? It's just we'll have to travel to Dublin for this and it would be easier to get them both done at the same time. Many thanks x

I'm about to apply for State Sponsorship to Victoria. Do I need to apply directly to Victoria first or submit an EOI first. I thought it was an EOI first but now I'm confused after reading their website. Has anyone applied recently to Victoria that can help? Thanks

Hi I'm hoping someone can help me. I was in the process of applying for state nomination for WA and was just on the first page when my computer crashed. Of course the form wasn't saved as I had only just started and now when I try to go back to the start I get a notice stating that either I already have an existing application or my application has lapsed. Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do now to get back into my application? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry I meant IELTS

Hi all I sat my IETLS in February and my results were listening 8.5, reading 9.0, writing 7.5 and speaking 8.5 therefore giving me an overall score of 8.5. However when I was applying for my EOI my overall score is coming up as 7.5. How does this work? Is it solely based on my writing score as on my certificate it states overall band score 8.5 and a score of 7.5 gives me 10 less points for my visa. Many thanks for any replies as this is really confusing me x
