  1. I'm going to move to Australia(Melbourne) and currently doing a research of a job market in Australia and try to assess my prospects there. I am a Telecom Engineer with the background in software development. A short summary of my skills: 1. SS7 primarily for mobile networks (CAMEL, MAP, ISUP). I am an expert in this area, with several years of experience. 2. VoIP/SIP, not as good as 1 but still good enough. 3. Linux. Advanced user, programmer. Good understanding of system internals, several years of experience. 4. C/C++ in Linux environment ( Network software, protocols implementation, TCP/IP, SS7). This skill was on expert level in the past, but now it is partially forgotten since I have not worked as a programmer for the last 4 years. 5. Microcontrollers programming, RF circuit design (amplifiers, antennas). Almost forgotten skill, I gave this up more about 10 years ago. There are not too many job ads on seek.com.au that I fit well, I'd rather say one or two appear very rare. Often they require experience with an equipment of well known vendors like Cisco or NSN, that I do not have. I work for a vendor company and we do not use too many 3rd party components as we have our own inhouse development. I think that I should elaborate my skills to better fit the Australian employment market. So, I am seeking for advise. Which area of expertise I should learn and develop to better fit Australian job market with maximum utilization of existing skills and knowledge? Ideally, I would prefer to stay in telco space, may be slightly change the specialization. That is the key question. Which educational opportunities for professionals(Engineering, Telecom, IT) exist in Australia, especially in Melbourne? I appreciate any comment or suggestion.
