  1. Thank you Fisher I will bear that in mind. :-D
  2. Some great comments, very mixed so thank you. It is definitely something to think long and hard about from the comments that have been posted on here. I know everyone has a different experience and not one experience seemed to be the same but I just want to make sure we are doing the right thing for the kids too. Thank you soooo much for all your comments...now to show my Wife :-D
  3. Thank you, got a few years yet :-)
  4. Some very good comments, I think it's kind of put my mind at ease a little more now from the comments I have seen, especially yours 'tink' thank you and thank you to everyone else for being so honest and direct.
  5. Thank you for your opinions. My Wife is White and I am mixed race with my kids being quarter cast. It's something I didn't think of really until my mother mentioned it. I know racism is all over it's just how bad it is in one particular area that worries me. My Wife has friends in Brisbane and this is the area we was looking to move to when I finish my degree. I appreciate all your opinions, as we know it's not a subject anyone likes raising.
  6. Thank you for that Cal much appreciated.
  7. Right, racism is defined in many different way so everyone will have many different opinions but what I am really looking for is some information from those that already reside in Oz please. I don't know if my Mum is trying to put me off the big move down under with my family but she told me a story about a family she knows that moved to Oz and basically they were back home within 2 years due to racism. They spoke of how racist the country was, now I didn't ask where they lived in Oz what ethnic background they were or who they were but it got me thinking a little which has resulted to me writing this on here to get some honest opinions. Thanks
  8. Thanks for sharing what you both did too. Sorry to hear that Leah but hoprefully you will find something soon. I can still choose to be a qualified Teacher although it's not really what I've every thought of doing where as IT is right up my street. Hopefully they will be summat job wise by the time I get the oppertunity to go but knowing my luck I'll be half way through my degree and a job role will come up for the diploma I already have lol.
  9. So after officially deciding we are going to make the move down under I have started to plan the future. I am off back to Uni alongside running my business and working for another company to get my Hons Degree which should at a push take around 5 years to complete. While doing that my Wife is going to retrain in what she wants to do so she has qualifications and work ex behind her too. It's not going to be easy with the business and 3 kids but I'm sure it can be done. That being said we are looking at making the move in around 7 years, it seems so far away but I want to make sure we have done all we can in the UK in terms of making sure we have ticked all boxes. My Wife seems to be a little worried as the eldest will be about 15 and she will be in her early 40's (theres nowt wrong with that is there?) I think she's a little worried because it will all be new and she wants to persue her career for many more years once she has gained her qualifications. My worries are; What if our skills are not needed then? (I'm studying a BSc Hons in Computer Networks and Systems support) What's the computer trade like in Oz? Will there be always opening for specialist roles like this? and I think our lass in going down the social worker route. The eldest one jumping straight into high school in a new country (its a little different in a primary school setting)
  10. It's stupid and we are forecast more :-/
  11. After 1 year out of education I am going back to get my BA Hons in another subject due to my advanced diploma not being on the list but I'm looking forward to it (love education)
  12. Thank you for the websites. VERYSTORMY I currently operate my own cleaning company and I also work as a monumental mason (stonemason). I hold qualifications in Media too. Thanks in advance.
  13. Hello, I was wondering if there's any websites worth looking through for companies that sponser overseas applicants?
  14. I think my Wife is going to retrain in Care if I don't get a sponsered job
  15. It is stupid, they sent the kids home then 1 hour later it stopped snowing and came sunny...Good job we are self employed.
  16. We didn't have much to be honest, I think the papers and news have gone a little extra with their predictions lol
  17. It was indeed :-) It's stopped snowing now, we got a little sun and now it's dull again asif it's going to snow again.
  18. Can I just ask another question please; Would it be possible to go out on a working holiday visa, then hopefully get sponsorship then move my family or is that more hassle than it's worth?
  19. Hello Mark, Thank you for your prompt response. This might have to be the option then, depending on how my Wife feels about this, I will look more into it. Thanks again
  20. Hello everyone, I have been on the forum a little while now and I have also scheduled a meeting with a registered agent towards the end of the month but wondered if anyone could shed any light on our situation. Myself and Wife would love to make the move down under but are a little stuck on the visa situation. I have diplomas and an advanced diploma in Media along with many other qualifications although these are not on the skilled list so they are pritty much worthless. The ones I do have on the list is Carpentry and Joinery which I studied at college many years ago and gained my City & Guilds Foundation Construction Award although I haven't done any real work experience in this field so again it's pritty much pointless even though its on the list. I currently work as a Monumental Mason (stonemason) fixing headstones and the whole sales and production side of things. Again this is on the list although they require more working experience along with qualifications in this area which I do not have yet so again it's pritty much pointless. My Wife on the other hand has working experience in aged care which is on the list but no qualifications. The dilemma we seem to be stuck in is that we have one or the other in regards to experience or qualifications. We also have working experience of running our own cleaning company in the UK although I don't think this will ammount to nothing trying to get a skilled visa, so again it's just experience. My Wife and I are set on making the move down under with our 3 children but other than going back to education to get even more qualifications we don't see another way round this can anyone help? My Wife did raise a point I would like some information on which was for me to come out to Australia by myself on possibly a working holiday visa to work and live and try to get sponsored but then how would my Wife and kids be able to get out too, could this even work? I have thought about doing an apprentership in the UK but this results in me losing money and also makes it harder for me to manage my business. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advanced.
  21. Just wanted to share some of the snow
  22. Thank you Matty I will have a look through. I got my advanced diploma also known as extended diploma level 3 in Creative Media but I have looked on the list of Skills and nothing corresponds with that. I also have a Foundation Construction Award in Carpentry & Joinery although I haven't done much of that since I got the qualification for it :-(
  23. Thank you for that. I will leave it for now then. Myself and Wife are booking onto a seminar with agents at the end of this month so maybe I can get more information from there.
