  1. Were 4 weeks in now. We have a house, a car, my daughter has been in school 2 weeks and settled straight away. Banks sorted internet and phones set up.......were done haha we stayed 2 weeks in a holiday house which we booked before we left. In the 2 weeks we viewed 3 houses, applyed for them all just incase as there was alot of competition. Got accepted for 2 of them and picked the best one for us. Been here 2 weeks and yes it was unfurnished so had to start again which was a pain but if uou go for furnished your choice is very limited! If I had of known this prior to leaving I would have brought my entire house contents as silly getting rid of stuff to replace them again and theres so many little bits you dont evennthink about. My daughters school was pretty straight forward. We were told there were no spaces but persisted by visiting the school twice in person to show we were serious, tuesday were giving a appointment to meet the head teacher and she started the next day. All is going well!
  2. We are leaving uk for maroochydore 26th sep. Also heading for furnished accom when we arrive, we are taking 20 boxes of photos, kids certificates drawings ect which u cant replace, a box of tools, my juicer and grinder, cds dvd collection. My study books and papers. Kids are allowed one box of toys each ha and im taking my bed and matress as newly bought and im fussy when it comes to sleeping and 2 tvs which srent old either so felt was worth taking. Cost us 1134 door to door Just hope 20 boxes is enough lol
  3. Really want my kids to attend this school in January, have emailed all forms but was told this years admissions would probably be full when we arrive in September. Fingers crossed
  4. Hi everybody Leaving the uk 24th sep arrive in brisbane early hours 26th. Heading to maroochydore first then who knows! Very excited slightly nervous lol will all be worth it im sure. Myself and hubby and 2 girls aged 3 and 7 Cant wait, started this a year ago tho everything has been really straight forward through my husbands work so we were lucky. Now the time is nearly here. It really does go very quick!
  5. Regarding Mountain Creek what school have you put your children in. So nice to hear they have settled fast as that's a big concern. More so for the 7 year old. How do the schools compare over there to here in the uk? Thanks in advance
  6. ah yes i was meant to say we are landing in brisbane and prefer living on the sunshine coast. Would prefer not to have to work in Brisbane ideally the last time i was there the drive was over a hour and nothing could of prepared me for the price of parking in the city! haha Will look further into Tewantin thanks for your reply
  7. Hi all myself and oh are moving to brisbane sep 14 with our 2 children who will be aged 3 and 7 when we move out there. We are struggling to decide on a area. Main priority is schooling for the children. Husband works in shipping so work for him is not a issue. Would love Parks nearby, safe community. Where we are currently living everyday essentials are on my doorstep ie shop, school and park so driving is not a issue and would really like that to be the case when we move out there too. We have been looking at perigian springs, Caloundra and tewantin. Can anyone give advice on these areas it would be much appreciated! Visited Caloundra in may and although the area was beautiful we arent sure on what to expect from the schooling??? When the children are settled and everything is in place i would be looking for work as a accountant so areas that are good job wise or that have good transport links would be ideal too. Thanks in advance theres so much to sort out its hard to know where to start! Louise
