  1. We moved house around a year ago and updated our immi account accordingly. My husband got his citizenship approval letter to our new address but got invited to attend his citizenship ceremony in our old council area which is a 2.5 hour flight away.  Has this happened to anyone before and is the only way to rectify this to ring immigration?

    TIA

  2. My husband received his citizenship approval yesterday (via Immi account)! Total application process was 13 months so they are starting to turnaround applications faster.

    Date Applied: 02/02/2018 (roughly)

    City/Council Area: Gold Coast

    Online/Paper: Paper

Date received the acknowledgement email: 18/02/2018

    Date of Citizenship Test: 02/05/2018

    Date of Approval: 12/03/19

Date of Ceremony: TBA (now different council area)

Ferbuary 2018?1 Are you saying you applied in February 2018 and received a test email 2 months later?

Yes, but while others have received approval notice we've received none yet. I think it all evens out eventually in terms of total processing time, it could be a long wait until our ceremony.

Can paper applications be linked/added to an online immi account?????

We applied by paper in August, received email notification, received test date via email, now waiting for approval and ceremony....I have created an account online and added my paper application ref number to it and it brings up details of myself and my 2 sons but its saying we need to upload ALL supporting paperwork etc......I was told that I don't need to and its asking that because it doesn't know I've sent them via post as they can't be linked.....but now after seeing the above post I'm wondering whether somethings gone wrong and I need to upload the docs...but surely I wouldnt have had a test if they didn't have all the supporting docs they needed?

Our account only recognises our name and that our application has been received - it's also asking for supporting docs to be uploaded but I've already sent these via post. I did ring immigration the other day to query if these docs need to be uploaded (which isnt a problem in itself but getting someone to fill out a new form again stating they know you is a hassle), but was 122nd in the queue and gave up.

  5. Hi, I have a quick question for those that submitted a paper application for your citizenship - did you scan and upload a copy of the supporting docs you sent with your application to your online Immi account? I've just imported my application to the Immi account online and find it strange that they ask you to upload copies of the same docs you've already sent hard copies of.

    Thanks

  6. Hi,

Just after some advice with regards to declaring my UK rental income on my Australian tax return. Are there any deductions on profit received from your rental property that you can make on your Australian tax return that you can't on your UK one? I get my tax return completed in the UK (solely rental income) each year and then pass this info onto a local tax agent to lodge my tax return to the ATO but I'm not convinced that she knows the ins and outs of the UK and Australian systems and I worry that I'm paying too much tax to the ATO unnecessarily.

    TIA

  7. My partner applied on the 20/02 and we too are hoping that the visa approval time is closer to the 6 month mark than the 8-9 quoted. There seems to have been a few people recently who have got their visas within this time-frame so fingers crossed that this is a sign that the approval times have reduced and they have not simply been lucky and exception to the rule. If you look at the spreadsheet there are a few people who applied around the end end of January and on into mid-February so if 5-6 months processing time is indeed the new time-frame then hopefully we should start to see approvals for these people come through in the next few weeks.

  8. Yeah I'm sure its nothing to worry about either, its just like false hope thats all. Obviously I'm really happy for you guys that have had there visa's granted but also wish I was in that position.

On my CO, she isn't on holiday at the moment and I've said a few times before, she isn't really very approachable on any form of contact (and thats the limited contact we've had). Almost feel like I've ruined her week when I've had to contact her judging by her response!

Maybe I'll hear something next week....just been 7 months since I've seen my girlfriend and I'm desperate now!

Thanks for your response though, much appreciated.

Liam, out of interest, who is your CO?

  9. Question:

I've not submitted my medical yet. I applied in September 2012.

Do you just hang about waiting for the CO to tell you when to have it done?

My partner submitted his application back in February and was allocated the same CO as you. In the initial introduction email he received his HAP number and was advised to do his medical and submit his police clearance around 3 months from that date. If i were you I would contact SV to ask why you havent been given your HAP # and advised to do your medical and PCC as it sounds to me as if there has been an oversight. As Sniffer said, you are fast approaching your grant date and there is no need to make the visa grant period any longer than it needs be for the sake of an email to your CO.

  10. sounds fairly positive for you then :)

I didn't receive any indication like you that there wouldn't be any problems, which makes me wonder! I was told to wait 3 months before doing my medical just.

I am wondering should I email my CO and ask if there will be any issues later on in the process, or is it likely I will get my grant.

Hi Kevin, my partner submitted his application around five weeks ago and when his CO got in touch to introduce herself she provided the HAP number and stated to wait 3 months before doing the medical and police clearance check. Other than being asked to answer a question which we had forgotten to answer on form 40sp when we initially submitted the application we have heard nothing further from our CO or been asked to provide any further information. I'm hoping that this is a good sign...

  11. I got mine back and then had a request for extra info emailed to me from my CO. Wasn't a biggie and I just sent it off and emailed her to ask could she confirm if it was all in order, she said yes it was so I took it to mean she didn't require anything else, just my medical and police check next month.

    Hi Sniffer,

thanks for the reply; fingers crossed we dont hear that she neeeds any further info.
