  1. Hi Saz! I know about the RE thing- they only teach it in private schools, but I taught English in Aus and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to it again. As far as I saw the behaviour of the kids etc was pretty much the same, particularly as a lot of the kids were English/Scottish. They staff were a lot friendlier and it was good to be away from the terrible academy/lack of jobs/jobs only going to NQTs/Cover supervisors situation of England- plus the pay was a lot better! There is a distinct difference between the funding and behaviour in the private/state schools- but I'd always work in a state school over a private school. I'm trying to get there by september 2013 and maybe do some supply/relief work... this prob isnt possible is it? David
  2. I have a BA in Religious Studies, a PGCE (standard teacher qualification in UK if you're not from the UK) and 7 years experience. I taught Humanities for 4 years (RE and History) and English for 3 years all at secondary level. This included 6 months in Perth teaching English as a relief teacher at a senior High school. Thanks David
  3. Hi everyone, I'm a qualified teacher of 7 years looking to move to Aus. I worked in Aus for 6 months on a temporary working visa in 2009 as a teacher in Perth. I'm looking forward to applying just wondering time scales etc. I've gathered letters from all my local education authorities/supply agencies for the last 7 years to be assessed by AITSL- how long does this take? Can I apply for my visa on my own or do I have to go through an agent? Will this be quicker because I'm a single lad under 27 with no kids etc? Thanks for all your help- there just seems loads at the mo! David
