Can you come across from the UK,an look work once you are over then...Im an hgv driver but I want to move across....know it's not on the skilled list... How long can u come across for an stay?

Thanks,would love to go,its been an ambition for the last couple of years but now I'm in the position where I hope to make it happen. Aye perhaps looking outside the main cities might be one of the best options....

I've actually got tickets for Down Under Live at the SECC in Oct so hopefully they should be able to give me a bit more info as well.....

What is the best options then....bear in mind hgv drivers arent on the list... Can you do it all yourself an look for work when you get over there....any job would do for starters ??

Thanks......so I would have to get a 457 visa off my own back n go across and look for work....seems to be loads of jobs over there,have money saved up to survive as well... I see the bus companies are still lookin for people to train up an become driver, that's a good option,would be keen on that

Hi Folks, Not been on here for a good while, would like to move across next year all being well, lookin at Perth,Melbourne but tbh would consider nearly anywhere.... I'm a HGV Class 2 driver, also have a Counter Balance Forklift licence, well aware that these positions arent on the skilled list, so I'm wondering how feasible would it be to come across on what looks like it would be the 457 Visa Off my own back as I doubt I would get sponsorship...? Nope not as yet, my best mate n his wife are in Kinross, just outside Perth n have invited us across for a holiday, and one of my other mates n his family are moving to Melbourne the start of April, they too have invited us over once they're settled, as well as that he's said anything he can do once he's over there to help us get across he would, as in information etc. The fact I work for Veolia, who are massive worldwide has to be a good thing as well I'm sure..

Well possibly....I work with Veolia over here and I've looked into a possible transfer over to Oz and I've spoke to HR in Oz as well as previously asking out of curiosity if they'd be interested in me going over to work , of which they said yeah they would be, the only thing they couldn't do Is sponsor me is what the lass said.... i'm well aware that even at the age my wife is at she'd probably still walk it into Oz...that's the bit I need to help persuade her with....she might think its all too much of an upheaval but if I knew she was keen on goin I'd do my utmost to make it happen....I've said for the last year I'm pig sick of this place now, it's too cold-wet,too expensive for a lotta things, the weather dictates your life, by the time you get home it's too cauld or wet etc to motivate yourself to do anything....if you catch my drift?

Hi I'm 39 n my wife is 48,I'm a HGV Driver who is desperate to move to Oz,my wife is the sister in her Dept at the hospital she works in and is a tad more sceptical about goin..... we're no too late/too old are we? An if not how do I convince her this is defo a great idea? Any suggestions/advice welcome thanks

hi i think all of those visa suggestions are bang on,tho i#ll need to wait n see what the hr guy says once he replies back. looking on the job front again i notice there are jobs in Gladstone in Queensland with the compny i work with (veolia) does anyone know anythin about there at all? Willie

I think she possibly thinks it could be too much of a jump for both us to go away over there straight away, she did say the last time when I brought it up...if I wanted to go across n get sorted/settled etc then she'd come across....which I still think is a positive...right?? we coulda went to NZ a few year ago n at the time she emailed to enquire about a job at a hosp in Hawkes Bay, an received an email the following day saying the job was here if she wants it...she then put it to me an at the time I was initially thinking....hmmm I've got my band I play in, I go to the footy...so probably rather foolishly I said no...an I could kick myself to this day about that one... so maybe she doesn't want all the hassle of her looking into making such a move the 2nd time, after the disappointment of the NZ one...so perhaps if its to happen it'll be me who does all the work/gains the info required...which I'm quite happy to do...a band n footy isn't enough to keep us here now, thinking bigger picture here...
