  1. Wow, that's ridiculous. I hope you tell them where to go! I can't see how they would stand a chance in hell.
  2. I guess it's like it or lump it then. I see it as a bit of an unfair hike. Incremental increases is understandable, but that's just a ludicrous jump. Anyway, I guess there's no point in debating it, but thanks for confirming I'm not going mad and it really is going to cost a fortune.
  3. Wow, I thought it was $3k max?! Went ahead and put a ton of work into our application. I didn't expect it to be free, but man, almost $7k to apply for the partner visa? Looks like we're screwed, after all this work we've put into the application. I feel sick
  4. Hey folks, I'm applying for a partner visa (801) and I'm confused about a question in a section called...[h=2]"Applicant’s Immediate Family Members"[/h]The question in this section is... "Does the applicant have any parents, siblings or children including those that are deceased?" Does this mean I have to list all my family members, even if they're not planning to emigrate with me? Or is this only relevant/applicable to members that are coming with me? Sorry, it's so unclear and would appreciate your help!
  5. Ah OK, that makes more sense now. I just went back to the bridging visa page (http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/010.aspx -- under "why do I need a bridging visa sub heading) and it looks like I didn't read it properly... "if your substantive visa application is refused, and you leave Australia, and you later apply for another visa outside Australia you might not be able to be granted another visa for three years after you leave Australia." So, unlikely that chain of events would happen in my case...
  6. Thanks alot, good to know I didn't misinterpret anything!
  7. Hi all, I'm returning to Victoria in a couple of weeks on a temporary visa, and need to hire a car for the first week on arrival. This will be the first time I have driven in Australia and according to my research, apparently I can use my current UK license on a temporary visa. Could anybody else confirm if this is correct? Many thanks, Nick
  8. great replies folks, thanks so much. Had some real laughs at some of the replies... and it's funny how you all assumed I was talking about food! You bunch of foodies you!
  9. Hello everyone, my girlfriend, her two kids and i are planning to emigrate to perth before xmas 2013 and my first question to you all who are living anywhere in oz would be, are there any products you cant easily get hold of in oz, that you could in uk? Theres two reasons for this question. First, i like to be prepared. Secondly, im planning to start a new ecommerce business in oz and would be useful to know of anything i could bring to the table in terms of supplying missed/much needed products that we all love and miss. im looking frward to a life changing move to perth next year, and hopefully getting to know some of you better before we arrive thanks for your replies in advance, nick
