Yes, you’ll be looking at the child visas then. They will have your PR status, they just need a visa to enter Australia and unfortunately a tourist visa won’t do the trick.

I don’t know much about the 101 except that it’s expensive and lengthy, there’s a!multiple page thread on it on the partner and family visas page.

Not sure if there’s an onshore option, perhaps someone else can advise, or maybe speak to a Mara registered agent for the best strategy. A number of reputable ones post on this forum regularly.

    Thanks

It doesn't have to be a lengthy process. It is costly though. It may help expedite the process of you have a departure date.

Ours got granted within 2 months IIRC.

Thanks Duke that's good to know we are heading in to London tomorrow to get the ball rolling.

  3. Thanks guys both our children and under 18... to cut a long store short we were misadvised that we could add my son onto our visa after he was born which it turned out we couldn't this meant we had our entry time waived and in the meantime we had another child leading to the situation that me and my wife have our permanent visa but our children don't.

  4. Hi All,

We had a visa (189) granted for myself and my wife. We are planning on emigrating early next year however neither of our children are on the visa we are currently planning on applying for child visas however I was wondering if anybody had any experience (or if it was even possible) to move with the children and apply while on shore so that we can have more certainty around our move date rather than hanging on for the visa to come in?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  5. I was worried that you'd used the one in your EOI that was dated after your submission date. Some people have had visas refused because the skills assessment hadn't been issued when the EOI was submitted.

No I didn't get chance to change it and wouldn't risk doing anything like that heard of some bad outcomes with that sort of thing. Did you get your stuff certified?

  6. Mine was all relevant but I reckon it can't hurt to put all of your history on although if it's a pain then as long as what you have is enough to satisfy requirements then it should be okay. I'm sure somebody with more knowledge may be able to add to that.

  7. I also got invited on the 2nd of August - wasn't expecting that so quickly being an accountant on 65 points. Rather typically just 2 days later CPA got back signing off on all my prior work experience so my points would have gone up to 70, either way I'm delighted and will be getting onto submitting the application/arranging health and police checks next week. Congrats to everyone else who got an invite and fingers crossed for everyone else for the next round!

  8. I'll probably see you there, I've got to do one myself!

Remember to have them ready but unsigned, the consular officer is there to witness your signature only.

Well that went well the guy just signed it and stamped it. Total cost £10 plus train fare!

  9. I'll probably see you there, I've got to do one myself!

Well I'll be sure to let you know how it goes and I've left it unsigned as I read that somewhere or other.

I've been wondering recently what with the pro rata arrangement for accountants what level of points are actually needed for an invite, I guess that's something only the Immigration Service would know?

  10. Statutory declarations must be certified by a person authorised by the Attorney General. A solicitor in the UK cannot do it. A list of people eligible to witness them are available here > https://www.ag.gov.au/Publications/Pages/Statutorydeclarationsignatorylist.aspx

Usually the easiest way (if you can call it that) is to go to the Australian High Commission in London between 0930 & 1130 Monday to Friday (no appointment necessary) and pay the fee to have a Stat Dec witnessed. http://uk.embassy.gov.au/lhlh/Consular1.html

Thanks CaptainC, I've spoken to CPA who have kindly allowed me to resubmit data so I'm going to take your advice and head into London to have the statutory declarations I've put together authorised. Providing this all goes well that should put me on 70 points.

  11. Actually whilst I'm here, I had my skills assessed by CPA way back in 2013 but following some rather unhelpful prior companies I was only able to get one out of ten previous roles validated so have not been able to claim additional work points at this stage. CPA did say that I would need to make an official statutory declaration confirming certain details and I was wondering if anybody else had encountered anything along these lines?

  12. You may have already thought of this but try asking for a year long sabbatical I was in the fortunate position of being a contractor when me and the Mrs left for a 1 year WHV but she was in a permanent, solid job so she asked the question thinking she'd never get the time off but they actually agreed which was lucky indeed. Other than that I'd suggest giving it a try to get a job in the fields you are in, don't know too much about IT/Teaching but I didn't seem to have too many issues applying for contract roles despite the 6 month restriction on working for one employer.

  13. I wouldn't mind so much if I got a decent coffee but when it's an average half baked cup made by an inexperienced barrister it hurts the pocket :(

Which brings me on to my next subject, where is a decent place to get a coffee?? (At a reasonable price)

That's because a barrister will charge you an upfront fee before they will even speak to you!

  14. Hi Joe,

I'm a qualified CIMA accountant and worked in Adelaide and Melbourne as a Project Accountant and then a Senior Management Accountant on a working holiday visa in 2011/2012. At the time I had around 2-3 years PQE and I found work reasonably easy although I thought the recruitment process was a bit less hurried than the UK but with similarities such as it being tougher to find a job around Christmas.

In terms of the visa I am currently half way through the process but it's not too difficult I don't think providing you have the points - you have your skills assessed and do a straight forward English test (IELTS) and then submit an expression of interest. Can't comment on what happens after that as I'm not there yet but I've heard that it could take weeks to several months depending on the number of points you have to be invited to apply for a visa after which you have your criminal and health checks.

In terms of lifestyle I much preferred living and working in Melbourne to being back in the UK (I'm in the South East but I'm originally from Yorkshire) and I'd very much like to return. Feel free to send me a message if you have any more questions regarding salary or more personal specifics and I'd be happy to help you out with recruiters etc. if you end up there before me!

Where do you live at the moment?

    Kind Regards,

    Steve

  15. I am trying to make CPA migration assessments, they said they need documents to be certified as true copies.

    here is what they said:

'you are not able to certify your documents at a post office. For your reference I have included a list of people who can do this for you:

Your documents may be certified by any of the following:

    • a CPA or FCPA or member of an equivalent professional body

    • a commissioner for oaths

    • a Justice of the Peace

    • notary public

    • a police officer, sheriff, or sheriff's officer

    • a bank manager, dentist, legal practitioner, medical practitioner, pharmacist, or veterinary surgeon

    • an Australian consular officer, or Australian diplomatic officer

    • any other official who, in your home country, is authorised to endorse documents and legal declarations or witness sworn affidavits

    • MARA-registered migration agent'

Does anyone have any idea where I can certify my transcripts? Are there any companies providing certification services? or do I hand in my transcripts to a police station? (that seems really strange!)

I have recently had a successful CPA skills assessment and to certify mine I asked qualified accountants that were work colleagues. I did have issues getting experience signed off and personally I think they are very picky for a body which has an affiliation with the accountancy body I am with but I appreciate there are valid reasons.

    Best of luck!

  16. yup you are right... just some common sense is needed and always good to clarify in a call

It should be quite okay because i used stat declaration for one of my jobs as well (but i included payslips, employment contracts etc to show that i was really working there)

Im actually going to do my masters in July first in Sydney...

Well after speaking to them it looks like I'm going to be able to do a statutory declaration for virtually every instance where there were missing details. I'll try to dig out contracts/payslips as well as additional proof but I think it really helps that I've got part responses so it's clear I worked there.

I'd love to do a masters, that sounds really good! I'd imagine you'll have your visa wrapped up well before then?

  17. You've got me thinking about it I think I'm going to give them a call to discuss it. Pretty sure a bit of common sense can be applied to the whole thing! Please let me know how you get on with the EOI.

Where you thinking of heading once you have a visa?

  18. Yes, almost 4 years in and eligible to apply for citizenship next month

I have my CPA through the alliance you mentioned

Congrats that's great news! Where did you set yourself up and how is the market for accountants?

When I was on my WHV I spent time outside of travelling in Melbourne and Adelaide working for two energy companies and I'm really looking forward to heading back out in 2015 providing everything goes well application wise.

  19. i think u can try making a statutary declaration with regards to the work experiences whihc your previous company cant produce

man... now im feeling abit worried.. whether my work experience is not gonna be recognized because of a technicality such as not mentioning its full time. Wonder if the company name makes a difference cause mine is from a investment bank

I wouldn't imagine that to be the case the majority of names on my CV are FTSE100/ASX100 or global brand names. However I wouldn't be worried you can send things back to CPA who will re-review things for you, even I could do that now but after almost 5-6 months of back and forth I've decided to let it go as I am unable to get additional info from previous employers and CPA will not budge.

Where did you see information regarding the statutory declaration?

  20. Have you considered a skills assessment from the Chartered Accountants body? I'm ACMA too but for some reason (I have no idea why) did mine with the CA body rather than CPA.

It's more cost but possibly worth considering.

Thanks for the idea, I never considered that mainly because of the CPA & CIMA strategic partnership.

At the moment I'm thinking of just rolling the dice with fewer points and hope for the best, it's still going to be a while before I put in the EOI anyway so I might have a think about your suggestion.

    Are you in Australia now?
