  1. thanks Rachall:biggrin: good luck!!
  2. hi guys, a stupid question maybe......but.....my plans are (subject to visa approval) to come out to oz to work/live on my own for a few months, bit of a recce i suppose, do i have to include all my family members on the 457 application or can they be added later?? at the moment the plan is for my family to join me once the house is sold, which could be a while. thanks in advance for any help
  3. hi uklad, i was reccommended to a large company in perth by welsh slate quarry, i was offered a job and sponsor visa within a couple of days of them seeing photos of my work, bit different/ harder for you maybe. google some companies in perth and then email?? got to be worth a shot? i'm hoping to get out there in april, i'd be in a better position to help you then as i will be coming across carpenters/joiners on a daily basis. until then .....good luck
  4. many thanks for your help rupert.
  5. how do i research this VS?? will the employer have the info that i need or do i look down other lines? cheers Owen
  6. rupert, when we first decided to migrate, we didn't know much if anything about it. within 7 days of deciding, i had an email praising my work, and asking if they could contact me by phone, 2 days later i was offered a job, and a sponsor. its all moved far quicker than i expected, i.ve done my homework on the company in question too.......it's all good so far. i'm sure during our next few conversations he will fill me in on all i need to know, but its good to have inputs from others too i think. so you prefer the cold to the hot?? why are you in australia and not in norway??!! in my job, you can't wrap up to the extent where you can't move!! its an active job, always moving. you cant wear gloves as you need to be pulling nails out of a pouch at a reasonable speed. water proof clothing dont stay waterproof for long when your dealing with a stone as sharp as a welsh slate. if i could have you working with me for a day on a welsh mountain side, on a roof in the weather i mentioned, believe me, you'd soon wish you were back in the sun.....i've seen people cry in pain:cry: ......its not fun!!! thanks for you good wishes:xmas21:
  7. many thanks Tee, my questions may seem 'immature', but everything has moved so quickly since we decided to go for the move. i really didn't expect to be offered the position i've been offered so soon!! the employer in question is himself an english immigrant, and is being very helpfull indeed. but its good to have other lines of info, it can only help surely. lots of very helpfull people on here. thanks again
  8. thanks siandsu i'll be applying for the 457 in a week or two, so fingers crossed!! i see your north of the river, we could well be heading up that way if all goes well, if so, could do with some advice on nice areas to live etc nearer the time.
  9. thanks rupert, my hope is for a better quality of life for us as a family...weather, outdoor lifestyle, career prospects, education........FISHING!!!!! we're a happy family and i'm sure we'll be happy in Australia. i've been in the construction industry for 20yrs, and its in a dire state at the moment, and it WILL get worse here.....its a bleak future for sure. i've been offered a job in perth, a very good job too, with very good prospects, as for roofing in 40+.....................consider roofing in -15 and sleet and snow?! with an easterly wind making it feel twice as cold??!! i think i know which you'd prefer!! besides, the job offer is of a supervising/managing post, and also teaching natural slate craft, i could always hide in the air conditioned office if its too hot!!!!
  10. thanks for your help VS, a company has approached me and after quite a few lengthy discussions, has offered to sponsor me and my family, problem is...................he want's me there tomorrow!!!!!!! didn't think things would have moved so quickly but musn't grumble eh??!!!
  11. hi fifi69 thanks for your help, the job offer is very much long term, we've spoken in great length over a few weeks, so i'll be speaking to him again next week before applying for the visa. i know that the company want me to apply asap, so fingers crossed, i'll be in oz around april, with my family following soon after(once the house is sold) really looking forward to it:biggrin:
  12. hi, i've been offered to be sponsored into australia by a company in WA, a very good position has been offered, with serious prospects, my question is.........if i take this offer, what is the deal with applying for a permenant residency after the sponsorship period runs out?? am i likely to get turned down or accepted?? has anyone any experience of this?? any help would be appreciated very much.
  13. are there any roof plumbers on here?? could do with picking your brains a little:chatterbox:

    help!!

thanks VS.. did that test and it came up with the employer sponsorship visa, which i imagine will not be a problem. it states on it that the employer has to guarantee employment for a minimum of 2 yrs...what happens if it goes 't1ts up' with that employer within that period??

    help!!

thanks rupert. what is the difference between schedule 1 and 2?? would that make any difference in the application? the nvq level3 that i'm going for is the advanced leadwork course....which is also known as roof plumbing. the sales rep i'm meeting is the guy who basically sells welsh slate to all importers in Australia...i.e. roofing companies, his words were that these companies are crying out for slaters on my quality to carry out work as well as teach local workforce....so in that respect, i don't think it will be a problem getting one of them to sponsor me. i did a 'test' on a website today called 'migration expert' and passed it....but don't know how legitimate this is?? it said on that website that my trade is on a skilled sponsor something in a few states.....again.....legitimate or not i don't know. has anyone any info on employer sponsorship??
