  1. Hi I am a Australian Citizen, have being for a few years. I am a only child and my mum is a lone parent (doesn't have a partner), she is still in the UK and makes a yearly visit out to OZ. At 73 she's getting on and we are looking into visa options for her, but it is a bit of a minefield. We did attend a migration agent chat, but it still seems too many options. Her health is good, however she has a underlying lymphoma cancer which is described as dormant until it attacks her :( She's not the wealthiest person on the planet, owns a 2 up 2 down in UK and has a state pension/ some savings. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you Vanessa
  2. Hey We are in Qld, Beaudesert in fact saw you guys are in Jimboomba. If you know anyone in this area that would help that would be fantastic, we are going to go see some guys in Beauy tomorrow. Yep heard a lot about the qualifications and having to re-do them at college grrr!!!
  3. Hey I got my visa and permanent residency through working in the equine industry, my agreement with my employer comes to a end in August and I am free to do whatever I like. I'd like to get back into the plumbing and trade industry, although this seems quite difficult. I currently hold a interim gas license level 3, which I did at TAFE last year. I'm hoping this gas license will open some doors back into the industry. People have told me I can't get a plumbing license unless I do an apprenticeship, or re-do my qualifications seems ridiculous as I did all this in England and have 7 years experience too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm thnking of applying to the mines but I don't know how I would go without the Australian standard plumbing qualifications. Thanks Adam A[PH[/php]
  4. Hi My partner and I spent 3 months in Tassie a couple of years ago, out on a organic property in Yolla near Wynyard. We loved it, we got involved in training endurance horses the riding was amazing and so was everything else. We travelled the whole island and had a great time... Were currently in SE Qld in Beaudesert, we have until August 2013 to fullfil our RSMS visa and then we are free to do what we want. My partner was a qualified plumber in England and has gone to night school at TAFE college to study Gas Enginering for the last year or so, just wondering if anyone would know if theres any career opportunities in Tassie? Its tempting for him to go and seek work at the mines in central Qld, but we just love Tassie....plus the weathers a little kinder on us. At the moment we both work with horses, Adam works with racehorses as a track rider/ breaker and I train endurance horses and I'm studying towards a Sports Massage certificate. If anyone knows of anything would be great to hear from you, its hard researching jobs on the net for Tas I think its better been down there. Thanks Nessa

  6. I have just returned from a 3.5 week holiday in England, I had great fun catching up with my friends and family. I hadn't been home since I arrived 3.5years ago! It was great meeting up with people who knew me so well, sharing memories and catching up on things. Now I've returned I feel a little bit lost and lonely, I have some good friends here and a great life but I feel like I'm missing something. I live in Beaudesert, Gold Coast Hinterland with my English partner. If theres anyone in this area thats feeling a bit the same let me know, I'd love to meet up and have a chat. We plan to move further south eventually as the weather gets way too hot here its killing me off at the minute, people always told me its hard coming from the cold to the heat!! They were right....
