  1. Hello mate Its been a while since I've been on here No, I'm not making the move now, I'm going to Canada instead. Be careful of the vetassess mate ! make sure you don't have any breaks in your work history as they will count that against your experience. It doesn't matter that you have been a Site Manager for 10 years, if you have had any type of break from work they will not count it. They did that to me, I've got 13 years at management level but they deducted the time I was made redundant when the recession hit. Still had a positive outcome though, but I now needed the full points on the IELTS test which is a real ball ache. In the end we decided on Canada instead as I had landed a job before we get there, not like in Aus. If you need any more info let me know mate
  2. Hi Kim Had a chat with an agent who I'm paying for help now and it looks like I've got to sit the IELTS so no getting away with that one. Feel pretty confident about it though, and bought the Cambridge test book with the CD's just hope my cockney accent don't let me down, the wa'er in Ma'orca don'e taste like our it or'er , if you remember that old lager advert lol I need all 60 points and can reach 65, but I need to get all the 8's to get the pass. The thing with the age is when I first looked into it I was 39 so got the full points with that but lacked on work experience , now its the other way around and also it weren't the right time for us. I bounce between LIV and this one to get some good info on Aus , it helps a bit to get some understanding if you know what I mean . Regards
  3. Thanks for the reply Leah1921 as mentioned above, your right, looks like some revision then Regards

  5. Hi Has anyone applied and recieved the 190 State Sponsored Visa under Building Associate for Victoria ? The question is the points required is 60, but for Victoria and under Building Associate the minimum IELTS required is 7 in all bands , the problem is if I score 7 and dont reach the 60 pass mark do I still meet the requirments ? Also as a born and bred UK citeizen it sates on the Victoria web site that no IELTS is required , now I'm confused . Emailed Victoria direct and they replied with various answers , any help would be great Thanks
  6. Hi everyone Has anyone got an update on the construction work in and around in Perth ? This is to include residential and commercial builds , at present we are waiting to see if Building Associate is included back on the skills list for WA, it was taken off in the summer time and the new list is available on Monday 28th October. Still on the list for Victoria but WA was our first choice , spoke to Hays and they said Perth and Sydney was the better option at present , any feed back would be appreciated . Thanks
  7. Thanks for the reply Petals Looks like we are in a better position work wise in London at present, from what you said it doesn't look promising upping sticks and moving down under if its more stable back home, don't think I would want to take the risk and start looking for a job again so we will just hang fire with the visa for now Regards
  8. Hi Can anyone update me on the current construction climate in Victoria and Melbourne ? It seems that that WA is on a down turn but how about Victoria , I work as a Site Manager back in the UK and are still waiting for my skills result from vetassess. I want to know about the commercial and residential sector and maybe from another Site manager from the uk who's working there Any feed back would be great Regards

  11. Hello mate Look on www.perthpoms.com under working hours for brickies there's some info on there you might be interested in , there's a site manager on there that's from the uk and works on new build houses and has mentioned that the work is ticking along alright and are always looking out for decent brickies .Don't know about the other states other than Victoria which might be worth looking at, good luck

  16. Hi Has anyone got any info on the construction market in Melbourne? we are looking at Perth at present but the role of site manager (building associate) is state sponsored in Victoria as well , only just started with the vetassess and wont hear anything back till the end of the month so a few months away from securing the 190 visa. The feed back on Perth at present is its a bit slow but could pick up in another 6 months but there seems to be more Site Manager jobs available in Melbourne but these could be old advertisements , any feed back would be great . 25. Hi everyone Is it me or am I the only cockney who is looking to up sticks and move the family to Perth , I mean I'm not looking to meet up with other Londoners as we are all in the same boat as all the other uk migrants but there seems to be more people from every where else other than London and East London to that. I've got good job prospects in Perth as has my wife and are looking forward to doing the move later in the year when the big construction jobs kick off. Fell free to comment
