We lodged our application and got confirmation on 4th September 2012, we are asking you guys out there what is the usual time span before a case officer contacts us to start medicals and police character checks? Is 2 years still a realistic time frame from start of process to Visa issue or has that time frame moved a little? Being an ex civil servant I have worked in Germany (BFPO) during the last ten years with the British Army, would I still need a German Police Character or is the ACPO checks sufficient, if anyone has experiences similar to mine or has any info i would love to hear from you. My wife and I have applied to emigrate to Australia under Contributing Parent Visa Sub Class 143, we are not using a migration agent but are doing it ourselves. The application was sent off and signed (recorded delivery)for at the migration offices in Perth W.A. on 4th September 2012, to date we have received no aknowledgement that the application is correct or if it has been logged. My question is this normal and what is the timeline before anything else happens? It could be assumed no news is good news but it would be nice to know. I have read through the Goverment doucments and understand the process with queue numbers etc. but i was wondering if they let you know anything when the application has been received? Hoping someone can answer these questions, thankyou. Keith
