  1. We have had the capital for the sale of our house tied up for a year and it is just about to mature. We want to reinvest but most things say we have to be a Uk resident for tax purposes. As we are now in Oz this is a problem. Can anyone suggest anything that doesn't have these constraints, we are willing to tie up for a year if necessary. Thanks
  2. Thanks Rupert. Gona get a quote from a restorer and take it from there.
  3. Thanks Rupert for your reply. The removalist would be acting for the insurance company. I guess they would sell them to recoup their costs. I think I will get a quote for restoring. Do you think I should accept their first offer though?
  4. Ours took 10 weeks door to door to Perth. Nothing moves fast out here!
  5. In need of some advice please. I have made a claim on my insurance for damage to to my six leather dining chairs due to careless packing and loading. All the leather is imprinted with bubble wrap marks and one chair is scuffed where it fell of the container when being loaded. I insured them for $450 each as they are Italian leather and have v shaped insertion of suede in the back. The insurance company asked if I would accept an offer, not stated, and warned that if the insurance co paid out the full amount of the claim that they would come a take all six chairs away. I said I wasn't willing to settle. However, they have still come back with a settlement figure, which is 50% of what I claimed. My question is do I settle, I am not happy with that figure, the chairs are unique and I can't find anything remotely similar out here. But I don't want them to take them away either. I thought about making enquiries to see if a Leather Restorer could help but I have no idea how much that would cost. Whats angers me the most is they don't negotiate your insurance premium based on the amount of damage done. Any advise or thoughts on the matter or previous experience in this area would be gratefully received. Thanks
  6. Thank you for your advice. if I insure with you do you cover the costs of clearing up if the vessel sinks or runs a ground. Sorry cant remember the correct term. Whats the best way of determining the value of consignment? Is it just a matter of going through room by room and then googling the price in Oz?
  7. Hi new to this forum, hope you can advise. Di i have to take the insurance offered by the removals company or can I obtain my own insurance. If so, has anyone done this and what are the pro's and con's. Thanks for any advise
  8. Hi Graham We live in Bradford and going to Perth in November. Do you mind me asking who you used/using at £3500. Our quotes have come in at £3800/£4195/£4345. Many thanks
  9. Hi I am considering using PSS for our impending migration to Perth. They are the most expensive of the 3 quotes I have received but get quite a good feel for them. Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks
  10. Hi I have obtained three quotes for export packers, 1 I have discounted. Just wondered if anyone has had any dealings with PSS International Removals or Anglo Pacific, and if so would you recommend or otherwise? Any advice gratefully received.
