  1. Becuase he has the criminal record we couldn't apply for the eVisitor, we had to lodge a paper application with evidence under the subclass 600 Visitor Visa - Tourist Stream. So with that we included similar evidence as to what we provided with our main application to substantiate his character. I know there is a big risk it could be denied based on the criminal stuff, but if you don't try you'll never know. Hopefully our CO can see missing the birth of his child is a severe punishment, so we'll see. I want him to be able to come for as long as possible but if we can only get the shorter term one I will take whatever we can get! I'll let you know as I am sure there will be more people in this situation.

Good luck with the process kmarees1986, my fiancé has a juvenile conviction, which he had to explain from start to finish in a statement, and explained how he has changed. He also had another conviction on his UK criminal record that was a mistake. It took us weeks to clear up the mistake with a lot of back and forth with UK police etc. the stress of that, and the stress of having to apply for the paper 676 so he could come over to visit was exhausting. It's terrible to think that a mistake he made in the past put his future in Aus at risk. He is now here in Aus on his PMV, but the conviction follows him- he was questioned and made to wait at immigration when we came back from activating his PMV. I hope everything is okay for you guys, especially with the baby on the way. Good luck with it all!!

  2. Arrived offshore Wednesday night, had breakfast in our hotel on Thurs morning and thought we had better get the wifii password and maybe check fiancé's emails... And there is was, his grant!! :) about 4 days shy of the 8month mark.

So relieved its finally over, and now we can relax on our little holiday before wedding madness sets in when we return home!

Congrats to all the others in the same boat, and especially the October applicants! How exciting!

Now excuse me while I go drink another cocktail by the pool

    Yyyaaaahhhhhhh!!!

  3. OMG OMG OMG! Received our email today saying that my husband's visa has been approved. YAY! now to start planning the move back.

For everyone, still awaiting there's, I know the anxious feeling but rest assured to will come!

here are my stats for you,

24th Sep 2012: Application received at London office

    26th Sep 2012: CO assigned

24th Jan 2013: Medicals and Police Checks sent

    26th April 2013: Visa Granted

    Goodluck everyone!

Wow hotspur that's awesome!!! I can't believe how quickly they are getting through sept applicants, as u are at the end of sept!!! Congrats!

  4. Wow, littlekitty! So excited to come on here and see that you have received the all-important, head offshore email! I always look out for your name since we applied at the same time for same visa! Congrats - the end has finally come!

If you don't mind me asking, did you contact your CO much beforehand re the expiry of your fiance's tourist visa and heading offshore for visa grant?

I ask as I just emailed my CO last week, asking how much notice I would get in order to leave the country come grant time. My tourist visa expires on 31st May (just 4 days short of what would be the full 9 months of processing!) so I always hoped it would coincide.

My CO simply replied saying she'd be in touch nearer the end of the 9 month period, advising me then to go offshore...

I guess I was hoping she'd acknowledge when my current tourist visa expires and indicate that my PMV grant would be made to coincide...would make life a lot less stressful! Am I asking for too much?!

Maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily, but would love to know if you had much correspondence with your CO recently, and if you had to give him/her a nudge?

Hi, sorry about the late reply- things have been crazy since getting notice to go offshore! We leave on Wednesday night, so we can't wait to have a little celebratory holiday in Bali before coming back and getting fiancé's work organised etc.

anyway, to answer your question- my fiancé's tourist visa was due to expire on the 6th April, we emailed our CO to let her know we could be offshore after the 6th and just wait offshore. That was wishful planning as it was before the 8 month mark. She told us it was 'unlikely' the visa would be granted in april - So fiancé extended his tourist visa. 8 days after (on his birthday no less!) he got the email to go offshore!

this sort of tells me that the COs literally can't tell when the grant will be possible until maybe within one or two days... Otherwise she would have stopped us from having to extend his tourist visa (more paperwork etc) if she could have predicted that 8 days later he was ready for a grant.

I can't be too excited yet- we don't actually have the visa yet- but hopefully by then end of this week I can't join the club!

We are also SO SO excited to be able to properly organise our wedding!

  5. Well it must be the month of handing them out just got my email through been granted and its the subclass 100.

Just been jumping about the place, Perth here we come:biggrin:

Woohoo Kirkhoffmann! How exciting, and a bit early too!

We are off to Asia in 2 weeks to receive the grant - needed to clear the last-minute leave with work! My boss knows all about the 'going offshore' situation and she was also shocked that it's happening early!

  6. Here I am reading the forum, thinking.... cmonnn 2 weeks lets do this!!!!!

So it's fiance's birthday yesterday so we had nice relaxing day, I took the afternoon off work, we had cake etc.... didnt check his emails cos we were taking it easy.......

Go in there today.... and there it is!!!! The email to tell him to goo offshore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are SO SO excited to go offshore and get the decision, but we also need to work out some cheap flights to go to Bali/Malaysia in the coming week or two - there's a public holiday next week so flights are VERY pricey! we just want to go TODAY!!!!!

  7. Hello - This is my very first post on this forum. I am Australian currently awaiting my husbands visa to be approved so we along with my 18 month old son can move to Australia. We applied on the 24th of September and am anxiously awaiting the big day when we get some sort of notification that the visa is approved so we can start arranging our move back there.

Can I ask how some of you seem to know that the august visa are currently being granted and therefore September is next? This is making me very excited although I do not want to get my hopes up too high! Is there a website that you have been checking to see or is this just 'word on the street' as they say?

    Goodluck to all!

    Hey hotspur, welcome!

I'm a Septermber applicant too - my fiance applied on the 4th of September. We have had no word yet, but we are really hoping for an 8 month grant (start of May). Really looking forward to the day when I can post on here saying "visa granted!" hahah so far, not yet!

  8. Patiently waiting...........................For the last of the August applicants to be finished with their grants

Hopefully I can gather some more September applicants (maybe some that have been silently watching!) over the next few weeks on the thread so we can keep each other updated...... Our visa grant (8 months will be the 2nd of May as per the spreadsheet) coincides with my work wanting to make me a permanent employee (which will mean a decrease in pay!!) so I am very, very stressed. The visa grant can't come quick enough - one income isnt a struggle right now but it will be with this new role. Had my interview at work today, fiance wants me to come offshore with him for the grant at short notice, need to consider the pay drop.... there's just too many things going on.

  9. Question:

I've not submitted my medical yet. I applied in September 2012.

Do you just hang about waiting for the CO to tell you when to have it done?

Hey GreatDane... you had your medical yet? I would suppose you need to do it soon... I know other September applicants that are waiting their grants now and have told by their CO's to expect a grant in early May, so to avoid any delay I would do it soon.

Have you heard anything regarding your medical since you last posted?

  10. Got confirmation from my CO PS mid Feb that my application should be finalised mid March. Found out today that PS left DIAC last Friday and that I will have to wait until Mid April for a new CO! SO annoying to be so close to a grant. Plus, I'm going back onshore 1st May, which would've been my initial entry as approved by PS, so not sure what's going to happen now :(

PS LUMAINOZ - when did you apply?

Oh LUMAINOZ that is terrible, I would be calling and getting some answers, as your application may be finalised, but now it has been put aside to be given to another CO to do the granting. So the grant may well be ready to go..... I would def use that original email from your first CO about it being finalised mid-march. I know I would be very upset seeing as its PAST mid-march!

  12. My visa has been granted!!! :jiggy:

We had to change our plans to enter Oz in April rather than July as originally planned. I emailed my case officer to double check i could go in on a tourist visa and just to ask if he had any more information on processing times. Out of the blue, rather than tell me I would have to take a trip to New Zealamd in May, he granted the visa. Its only a week or two before the 8 month mark, but it makes our life sooo much easier so I'm bouncing of the wall right now!

Its a relief too, I knew it was likely but until I got the letter I still had a nagging worry. It didnt help that we packed and shipped the house contents in November to go travelling so no visa would mean stuck on the other side of the world from all my worldly possessions :P

Now that's what I like to see! Fiancé's tourist visa got extended last week, so that's good news for us :) now just to wait for his PMV. Won't have to stress about the end of his tourist visa coinciding with the PMV grant anymore... That's a bonus.

Congrats, that's such good news, good luck with the move!

  13. Hi guys, any grants happening out there??? Seems that since things moved to the revised time of 8-9months, the grants are much more few and far between.

My fiance, on the other hand, needs to extend his tourist visa to bring us to our processing time of May/June (so he needs another three months). Hopefully they will let him... He's going to call DIAC today and apply to extend. Otherwise he'll be going back to England to wait! (Which he is not too fussed about...) It would make things easier if he could stay until processings up.

Anyway, no news on any August applicants? (I think we're up to August..?)

  14. Ok flight is booked for tuesday CO assures me visa granted monday morning ..I sent copy of flight info and its all good ..heres hoping others get theres sorted quickly and remember the next time the DIAC visa wheel of fortune spins it could be you

Thats great news Andy how exciting! Did you get a good price on your flight? I myself got a good deal on a flight last night for our trip to Asia - hopefully it was a good night all round for booking flights!

I know some people dont mind when their visa gets granted but personally I just hate the unknown, especially when plans are made around that time (or you have a job to start!)

A friend of ours wants to employ my fiance but he needs someone to fill the job quite soon - just hoping we dont miss the opportunity because we have to wait about a month or so for the visa.....

  15. Is this visa grant week ? Who knows were will the DIAC wheel of fortune will land this week ..IT COULD BE YOU ..

I wish Andy!!! No I would actually be happy if we got a bit of an estimate from our CO instead! Flights are booked for the man to go offshore (end of his Tourist Visa's coming up) hoping the end of the TV and the PMV grant coincide... We're using the end of his tourist visa as an excuse to head o/s for a little holiday before he has to come back and start work (and before wedding madness begins!)

Might have to email the CO in the next couple of days to try to get a bit of an idea of a time frame.... fingers crossed

  16. Just a bit about them, where/how they met their Aus OH, where they plan on moving to in Aus and the usual. Nothing major. Of course, people don't have to share anything but it can be nice to just get an idea of who we are talking to rather than just discussing the extremely long waiting times or who has what CO.

I know some of those currently applying as they post elsewhere round the forum but many in this thread seem to only post here so not much to go on. I chat to those elsewhere and in PM which is nice. I also use other areas of the forum (and our sister forum) for info on the migrating aspects like shipping and so on.

Hey Snifter, I am originally from Melbourne and as Melbourne was not working out for me career-wise/love-wise, I decided to up and leave and move to Perth for something new (call it a quarter-life crisis perhaps). Within a few months I had met a wonderful English man and landed a job with a large mining company... him and I were inseperable from then on. We considered living in England for a while, but as I had already made a big move across Aus, we thought it best to try the Aus Visa route. Plus the money we can both make here in Perth will really help with the wedding/house deposit. Once fiance gets his visa, we will live and marry in Perth - but we plan to buy a home in Melbourne, closer to my family.

I sometimes wonder where I would be now, had we decided to go and live together in England. He is from Yorkshire and I find myself daydreaming about living there... after I visited, I could see us setting up a little home together there. I guess that is always a possibility!

  17. So exciting seeing August applicants getting notice of their upcoming grants. I am watching this forum like a damn hawk! I am (haha- or should I say, the fiance of) a Sept applicant, so I really cant believe we are almost getting to our month! The end of his tourist visa is fast approaching we would love to know a proposed grant date.... We are going to email our CO soon to see if we can get an answer from her... It cant hurt to email her. She always sends us very short emails so I'm a little intimidated!

Just wanna say - August (even early Sept) applicants, speak up if you have any news or notice from your CO (or if you have an upcoming grant)! There are people like me checking this forum every day just to get an insight into everyone else's timelines! Haha thanks!

  18. Hello everyone ..I have just received confirmation from CO that the visa will be granted on the 2nd of march ..I had planed on going on a holiday visa but when we received this confirmation have decided to wait ..I cant believe that this all over and I get to see my wife and start our future ..I hope for anybody waiting that there visa is granted soon and would like to thank everyone on here for there support and advice ..:biggrin::biggrin:

That is awesome news Andy! An August applicant... that is really cool!

Especially for me as we are Sept applicants and the end of my fiance's tourist visa is fast approaching!!! Let's hope the riming is right and his tourist visa coincides with the grant!

Good luck with it all and keep us in the loop about your departure to Aus :)

  19. I applied to Australia House in July, for my partner visa. The application was acknowledged on 31 July 2012.

I moved out to Australia on 5 December 2012 - on a tourist visa.

I was told in mid January (after a gentle push for information via email!!) that my partner visa would be ready in February, I just needed to let my Case Officer know what dates I would be out of the country (it had to be a minimum of 3 working days).

So I booked my flights to Auckland for 4th February and I woke up on 5th February, in Auckland, to the email confirming that my visa had been granted.

I flew back into Brisbane on 9th February - a little aprehensive that they might question me at immigration. But I walked straight through - no dramas at all!!!

So now the painful part... I have to find a job - I was enjoying being on a tourist visa as it meant I could spend my days being a "tourist"!!!

After the initial stress of getting all the paperwork together, I would recommend to everyone to just forget about the application. Don't stress, don't worry, just let it all happen!! And make sure you supply them with what they need as soon as possible (like medicals etc).

Hey Netbg, congrats, can I ask who your CO was? :)

  20. Fiance is here with me on a three month tourist visa at the moment. The end of his tourist visa will bring us to the middle of the 8-9 months wait.... Here's hoping the grant time coincides. It's making us both a bit nervous.

So no grants lately? Seems to have gone a bit quiet.... Maybe it is true that they arent going to grant around this time so that they catch up with the 8-9 month wait.

  21. Starting to get really frustrated about reading the whole 'gap' questions, regarding the gap in grant times. I applied start of Sept, and as I was in the first couple of months to be told 8-9 months, I am frustrated thinking that its going to be more like 9. When I first started coming on this forum, people were waiting 5-6 months for their visas... and they were getting them almost exactly on 5 months (or some earlier.) Then I watched as the timelines went to 6-8 months.... so after they started saying 6-8, people were still getting them around the 6 month mark. So I wonder why the hell July/Aug/Sept applicants are looking at more 9 months than 8 - when really it should be closer to just under 8 months or bang on 8 months.... then maybe oct/Nov/dec applicants would be closer to 9 months?...... it just bugs the hell out of me.

How easy is it to get a spouse visa for England - or a Youth Mobility Scheme (WHol) visa when you have an English spouse? its always in the back of my mind....
