  1. We're waiting for a migration agent to get back to us. There is a part of me that thinks I should let my fiancé apply independent of me, and then apply for my visa seperately once we're married. I know it's another expense but it's so stressful trying to keep on top of things when I'm over here....plus I'm trying to plan a wedding lol! At least then I'll be back in the UK and we'll be living together. We're not in a massive rush to move to Oz as we want to make sure we're financially solvent before we go (debts paid off, decent amount of savings) - that's why I'm sticking it out in the middle east for another 18 months.....tax free salary!! Lol! I could travel out to Oz with OH on a tourist visa and apply for my partner visa onshore? Will wait and see what migration agent says and then we can make a decision.
  2. No you can get your medicals done before your case officer requests them
  3. What do you make of the possibility of the 12 month relationship requirement not applying due to co-habitation of unmarried couples being illegal in Kuwait? We are waiting for a migration agent to get back to us on this one. We are obviously still going to provide as much evidence as possible but are hoping this would count as 'compelling and compassionate circumstances'??
  4. So something pretty important (and useful) has just come to light!! According to the partner migration booklet states that only in exceptional circumstances will the 12 month relationship requirement be lifted.....this includes where co-habitation in the country of residence is illegal. This is the case in Kuwait, and I was tied into an employment contract which meant I could not move back home to be with my other half. This has got us very excited!!!!! ))
  5. Can anyone advise the documents that I will be required to upload as secondary applicant. I am back in the UK for a short period at the end of Feb and would like to get organised! Thank you
  6. This puts things in a whole new light! Worth applying together and taking the chance then. We can always apply for a seperately visa once we are married if not successful first time round?
  7. Oh....that's not what we've been advised! Expression of interest was submitted, approved for WA state sponsorship, signed and returned form, told to await email with invitation to apply. I wasn't aware you could apply for a 190 visa without an invitation? And we were advised we could expect this within a matters of days anyway?
  8. Some countries have an issue with dual residency, which is why I wanted to clarify. We have decided to use a migration agent, and there is a possibility that we may just apply for my visa separately once we are married due to our complicated circumstances.
  9. So if my application was rejected, that wouldn't mean an automatic fail for my partner? This is my main concern
  10. My partner has just passed this in the UK - I'll refer him to your post and get him to pass on any helpful info
  11. My partner has his skills assessment and IELTS, he is 25 (26 in June). We have received approval for WA State Sponsorship.....OH will be emailing acceptance form on Monday and then we will be waiting for our invitation to apply for the 190 visa. The plan is to have our honeymoon in Oz to activate the visa......we wanted to proceed in case OH's profession was removed from the skilled migrants list. I think it would be easier all round if we waited until we were married to apply for my visa given our complicated circumstances?
  12. Thanks for your responses! I agree about seeking guidance from a migration agent, I suggested this to OH yesterday! We are getting a combined property together in the UK within the next 2 months.....and so we would have mail at same address, combined bills, I would be sending money home to contribute to household. We don't have a joint bank account at the moment, but there would be evidence of money being transferred between our accounts, proof of our wedding plans (contracts/ deposits paid etc)......it would be difficult to prove contact as much of it is free IMessage and FaceTime so no evidence on phone bills :-/ we do exchange emails etc. We have photographs, flight confirmations to and from Kuwait for both of us. I personally feel there's no doubting our relationship, but I'm not an Australian Immigration Officer lol! I have a personal preference to apply for my visa after we are married.....I would hate for OH's visa to be rejected on the basis that they felt there was insufficient proof of our relationship! Thanks again
  13. Advice please!!! My partner (fiance) submitted an expression of interest for WA state sponsorship at the beginning of the month. This was approved yesterday and we are awaiting our invitation to apply for a visa. We have been together since December 2011, got engaged in December 2012 and are getting married in December 2013. We are both UK citizens with UK passports. However, for the entirety of our relationship I have been a teacher in Kuwait in the Middle East and hold Kuwaiti residency. I am terminating my contract in June 2014 - and we do not intend to migrate permanently to Australia until after this. We obviously have proof of our relationship, but we are unsure if there would be sufficient evidence to be granted a visa for me on the basis of a de Facto relationship as I am resident of another country and we have not lived together consistently. Our concern regarding an Intended Marriage Visa is that the visa may be granted before our wedding in December which would then make the visa invalid once we are married as we would not be planning to enter Australia before our wedding. Do you think it would be wise for my fiance to apply as an individual and then apply for my visa seperately once we are married. We understand that this would incur an additional visa charge, but it seems like the most straightforward way to do things. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Hi Everyone, I have a question regarding our application for a 190 visa. We have just received approval for our WA State Sponsorship and are awaiting our invitation to apply for our visa. It is my fiancé who is the skilled migrant and I will be included as his partner. We are currently engaged and are getting married in December 2013. Our situation is a little different!! I currently work in Kuwait and therefore have Kuwaiti residence in my passport. My OH obviously lives back in the UK. My current contract expires in June 2014 and we are not planning to move permanently to Oz until after this date. However, our visa may be granted before this time. I am concerned that there may be some issue with activating our visa if I still have Kuwaiti residency in my passport. Also, our relationship status will change from De Facto (we have a place together at home that I return to regularly) to Married after our visa application has been submitted. Would there be any problem with changing this? Thank you in advance for your replies
