  1. hey again!

We (me and wife) moved to Australia on 489 provisional visa. I am the primary applicant and she was the subsequent entrant. We both got the same visa and same conditions and will be applying for 887 in mid-April.

Before we moved to Australia we were told that only i (being primary applicant) have to meet the live and work visa conditions but i called the immi last week and i was told that both of us have to comply with this condition which has kind of jolted us as she hasn't even worked for 1 year during the last 2 years.

Has anyone else been in a similar boat ? Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, we've just been granted 887 visa from 489.

took exactly 6 months and we didn't need medical.

its a long wait but worth it

    Congrats!

Did both of you (you and your partner had to meet the live and work conditions ? Was anyone of you were a subsequent entrant or both were in the intial app when applied for 489 ?

  3. Hi all,

I, along with my wife, came to Australia on a family sponsored visa (Brother) around an year ago and currently reside in Victoria which is the same state as my sponsor.

Now due to personal and job reasons my brother has to leave Australia for a few years which is going to be before the completion of my 2 years live/work in a state requirement.

So i am a bit concerned if this is going to have any effect in my going forward in getting the PR. Does anyone know if this going to be a problem for me down the line because the requirement of moving from 489 to 189/PR is live and work in the same state as the sponsor?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. blossom79, the screenshot i posted and my question refers to my wife's application where i am trying to add here as an subsequent entrant. I already have the visa and was sponsored by my brother.

So, in this case, the question in the application is whether my wife (who is being added as subsequent entrant to my visa) is sponsored by a eligible relative in Australia.

Moreover, a migration agent on another forum has this to say:

I don't see a problem with that - you will want to make sure you understand the regional area living requirements of that visa. The sponsored by a family member box refers to a version of the 489 where the primary applicant is sponsored by a family member (rather than being sponsored by a state or territory), so sounds like No would be the answer for your case -

    What do you guys think?

  5. You wouldn't be the sponsor, you are the primary applicant. The sponsor would be whoever sponsored you. So if you were sponsored by your uncle, then you would say "Yes" to eligible relative (assuming this is the case, I don't know who is eligible to sponsor), and in the box below you'd say "Uncle".

I don't know the answer to whether you can add your wife while outside the country. You may need to speak with a migration agent if no one else on the forum can answer this.

Thanks for the reply Maggie but are you sure the about the sponsor thing? Any personal experience?:dull:

  6. hey all!

I have a skilled - Sponsored (Family) 489 visa, got the visa activated but still living outside Australia. I am going to apply for my wife's visa as a subsequent entrant. Firstly, does anyone know if i will have any problems in applying for this visa when i am still living outside Australia?

Secondly, while going through the visa application of my wife, i came across the attached page where it asks "Is the applicant sponsored by an eligible relative?" I am confused on this one as i am her sponsor but adding her as an subsequent entrant and in the beginning of application it already asked primary applicant(mine) details like visa grant number, date of birth etc..

Anyone with similar experience or knowledge on this one please?

    Thanks in advance.
