  1. Hi Jenny So I take it your husband has his A grade License? If so Id say there's a shed load of A class License work. Its advertised everywhere its frustrating not been able to apply when you are an approved electrician with 17 year behind me also our 17 edition regulations is if you go standards of football Premier league and their wiring rules AS/NZS 3000:2007 league 2. The work is shocking here. 1 socket per room and extension leads everywhere that spark when you plug things in. Anyway rant over i can only talk about my experience. We flew in on the 11th Sep 2014.Had two months finding our feet and checking Perth out. So I started applying for jobs around the first week of Nov. I sent out so many emails with my cv attached and got sweet fa back then I started getting some feedback you gotta get EWP, Confined Spaces, Working at heights, First aid all that old garbage. So i did so now Christmas is fast approaching and the industry as you know likes to shut up shop till the beginning of jan. But I tell you what its picked up since before Christmas much more jobs advertised. So id Say come over the sun shines here nice and bright all day long. I'd say I have had more sunny days in 5 months then I did in 8 whole years back home in London. Tell me what you think? All the best Mark
  2. Thanks fish01. My GP has sent off the letter to Sir charles gardener hospital so Im waiting back for the response then I can see if they will see me sooner. Is that the best way to deal with that?
  3. Hi Chewitts I'm on a 190 skilled migration visa i'm a permeant resident but only touched down here on the 11/09/2014 so don't think theres much they can help me with as in he way of social unless Australia and the uk have some reciprocal agreement I'm not aware of that we help australians in the uk and they help brits in Australia. Have you heard anything?
  4. Guys i posted this thread to see if going private could help me asap as i have herniated a disc in my back and I've been advised by doctors i need surgery. I can wait on Medicare to get it done but thats 8-12 months fly home to uk and wait on the NHS waiting list of 12-24 months. Go totally private and spend $50000 dollars which i don't have. Or get private medicare insurance but they all have a 12 month wait before you can use the hospital cover. AS i am in terrible pain all the time and I can not work does anyone know if there is any scheme like the social back home that can help me out while I wait for the surgery? thanks for reading and the comments are so helpful
  5. Hello peeps hows your fine day going here in the sun? No Rain for three months now is always a bonus if any. I have a question to fire out to the mass of Poms that know their stuff. Ive been thinking of getting private healthcare and have been quoted through compare the meerkat of $150 per month with Bupa. I know Bupa from back home and have a great reputation. Does this sound good or to expensive? This is with hospital cover so bumps the price up quite a bit. I am also under the unstanding that i can not use the hospital care for major surgeries for 12 months. Does anyone know if there is one you can use straight away when you sign up or does that not exist. All thoughts on here is really useful as i will be going with somebody within the next week. Thanks guys for taking the time to read.:biglaugh:
  6. Freemoney withdrawal at all ATM's with ing!!!! Wow thats amazing like being back in the u.k again. I am with west pac at the moment and i wouldn't recommend them highly at all. I will stay with them till i find a job then i will probably change. ing.com sound great plus 4% interest on savings at the moment can't be bad.
  7. Yeah i have just set mine up just now with ing.com. Nice clear site easy access and a form you can print off to give your employer. Plus you have a choice on where they invest your money. I think they could be ok but only time will tell.
  8. Thanks Dxboz that is one option for sure. However if you are going to move employer quite often that may become complex. Do you think setting one up myself is a better option.
  9. Hi Guys Myself and my partner are brand new to Perth and have been advised to get a Supperannuation set up. Can anyone recommend a good company to use for this? Thanks for taking the time in reading and any comments would be much appreciated. All the best Mark and Magda:cool:
