  1. Hi Julie, thanks for replying. I am flying into Perth initially to see what work I can get in that area and see if it suits us and then hopefully go on to Queensland for a while to see what its like there. I'm sure we will love both and I am looking forward to the opportunity of travelling. I am a mental health nurse and it seems that there are quite a few jobs in this area. I have inpatient, community, intensive care and Forensic experience so am open to any kind of work. The closer it gets the more excited I become. Im sure someone with your experience will find employment with ease. Have you considered joining an agency that can offer you support in your search for work? I have spoke to a few that seek out permanent employment for you and also support you with the big move. 'Healthcare Australia' is an excellent recruitment service and use many agencies that work in Melbourne area. Have a peek at their website. They have consultants based in London who offer you loads of support. Ive tried to add a link but couldnt, here's their web address. healthcareaustralia.com.au. Hope that helps a little. Please feel free to join the 'nurses in Oz' group and encourage others to do so. We need all the support we can get! Good luck and keep me updated.
  2. Hi everyone, I've created a group specifically for nurses so that we can offer each other help/advice. Whether you already have a job or are applying for one its confusing stuff!! I've personally just sent my AHPRA application form off and am eagerly awaiting the response. I've not got a job yet but have joined an Health care agency who have assured me that they can supply plenty of work when I arrive out there next year. I personally want the freedom of not having a permanent job for a while to allow me the opportunity of travel. What about you?
  3. Hi everyone, I am a mental health nurse hoping to move to Queensland next year. I have joined a nursing recruitment agency called Healthcare Australia, does anyone have any experience with them? They have been very supportive and helpful with registration and so on but just wondered if anyone has worked for them? Thanking you.
  4. Thanks very much guys, please feel free to offer more advice people!
  5. Hi there people. I am a 25 year old woman wanting to move to Queensland with my 30 year old boyfriend who is a telephone engineer. I am a mental health nurse and am hoping to get sponsorship to come over but am finding all the information totally overwhelming. Where do i start?!!!! I have been told to register with AHPRA to start with but am unsure if I should do that now or find agenvcies first? I have looked at loads of nursing agencies but am unsure about their genuineness. Anyone had any good experience with nursing agencies that they can recommend? As stated any advice would be great. We are both so excited to start a life together over in Oz. We both love animals and outdoor living and cant wait to experience it all. Best wishes :0) Lauren.
