  1. Hi all. Sorry for huge delay in thanking everyone for their help! I was trying to reply from Kathmandu and the message kept failing so I gave up eventually. Just to update. Yep I couldn't do the medical until it was requested by my case officer (thanks for letting me know) and I had already left London by then but at least I could stop worrying about it. I was able to complete the medical in Kathmandu who then put it through their e-system to London, there was no problems at all, all smooth sailing. It took a week or 2 to show up on their system in London in case anyone is wondering if theirs is lost. I submitted my police check after I had submitted my application but I paid extra for have it done speedily and that also came back really quickly and a friend sent it on for me. So 6 months later I finally made it to Aus! It was a hard 6 months but for anyone that is waiting..hang in there, it seems like a really daunting process at the beginning with all the forms and things you need to do, and the expense nearly finished off my bank account..and the waiting was a little painful (quite painful at times!)..but you'll get there. I can now take a bus to a beach and best of all finnnallly back with my hubby! Good luck everyone and thanks again was so great to have peeps out there willing to answer my questions and was fantastic advice!
  2. Hey all Thanks so much for all your comments and help..even the 'I'm not sure how to help but I support you' ones..really nice people! 1) Ok so I think I'll try to submit the police check as soon as I can pick up my bank statements. Then a friend can forward it as soon as its done. I haven't been in one country for more than 12 months but have been out the UK for more than 12 months in lots of different countries..hope they don't need a list! 2) I think I'll lodge the application and then immediately try to get the medical done to submit..I've read there are panel docs here in Nepal but I'd rather know they've been done there to simplify things 3) thanks for the advice re certification and witnessing...I'll make sure we've compiled everything and get to the solicitor as soon as I'm back. all the supporting docs I'll just sign trudging through all the forms again now...we're getting statements from Aus fedexed, birth certs from Cyprus, flying from Nepal..this is turning into quite a global effort!!!!
  3. Hello All..I'm totally new to this site but all the info and people here look so helpful..great site!! I am in a panic over some partner visa stuff as I'm currently volunteering in Nepal and flying back to UK this weekend for a couple of weeks to sort all this out and lodge my partner visa and I don't wanna stuff it up! ok my 3 panicky questions 1) Police checks I read in the partner booklet that you have to check with local high commission as to whether you should submit your police check at the time of lodging..UK high commission site confirms you need one but I cant see if I should do my police check prior to lodging also I read on the UK site that it can take 49 days but the ACPO offers a 2 day service...? ..does anyone know the answer or have experience of this? 2) Health Checks I rang the High commission in London yesterday to ask if I could do my health check whilst I was in the UK and submit it along side my application and she was very sure I could and that it was easy to get the appt for the tests whilst I'm back (she warned me about the 12 month validity period), however, I've just just read on their website that you can no longer do this...anyone know about this? 3) Witnessing/ notarising supporting evidence I haven't seen anywhere yet that i need to get all the supporting evidence ie..photos, utility bills etc notarised or witnessed but I spoke with a friend of a friend whose been through this who said that they had everything witnessed by a JP..is it necessary? I would so appreciate any advice on any question I'm in such a muddle and really worried about flying back and then not having done the right things..I'd rather get as much in as possible at the time of lodging because I'm currently overseas and its pricey to come back again! Sorry if these are silly questions thanks in advance for your help:err:
