  1. Hi, We are emigrating to Melbourne in April! Does anyone know of any short term rents, pet friendly (2 lovely cats), for when we first arrive. Looking at 4 weeks (ish) and ideally on the East side of the city, 30 minutes out or a little more. Have searched on websites, take a break, Rent a home, Stayz etc but looking at maybe any independent properties or any other good sites you know of. I have a job secured and work in IT. My wife works in teaching. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Rob & Jo. Manchester, UK
  2. Hi Diana, We went it alone but only after speaking to some agents at a conference first and weighing things up. We had some guidance as well from family member who has already emigrated to Oz. Jo and Rob
  3. Hi Murta, Good luck with breaking the news, I'm sure it will be fine, have a nice holiday too. Jo and Rob
  4. Hi Murta, My Wife, Jo, is the main applicant and it's under Secondary School Teacher and my occupation is IT (Software Asset Management). Not all docs were uploaded but the main ones and just Police Check and Medicals left. CO then requested these from us and needed to get them back within 28 days. Where are you going for 4 weeks, Oz or somewhere else? Jo and Rob
  5. Hi Munchkinella, Where abouts in Melbourne are you living now? Jo and Rob
  6. Hi HArry A, Congrats on the Visa grant! Where are you from in hte UK and when and where do you intend to go in Oz? Jo and Rob
  7. Hi Cowoala, With our application we kept our CO updated with the progress of his requests regarding the medicals etc and told him when we had uploaded everything as well. If you are waiting medicals I would check your application status to see if the medical status has been updated. If you want to know how long they could take I would also suggest contacting the place that you attended to get them done and see if they have an update. We were told that if we didn't hear anything from them, all was OK. I hope this helps. Jo and Rob
  8. Hi Jamie S, My Wife, Jo, is the main applicant and it's under Secondary School Teacher and my occupation is IT (Software Asset Management). Not sure when we will go yet but we have to go to at least validate the Visa before 28/6/13. Jo and Rob

We're off to the wonderful world of Oz!!!!! JoandRob

  11. 12. Hi AlloVera! The forms do have to printed off then scanned - there are no electronic versions available. It's a bit of a lengthy task but we coudnt find an alternative.
  13. Good luck with the medicals, Ang! Thanks for the info. Will book appointments on Monday to make sure everything gets done in time. Jo and Rob.
  14. I can't help with the question about uploading evidence of your defacto relationship but can say you definitely don't need to certify any colour copies of documents you upload. It does say it on the DIAC website but it's really well hidden. Also, I noticed you only submitted your application yesterday... don't know how long you're expecting it to take but just in case you are thinking it may take months; we submitted ours on 3rd May and have a CO already. We have been instructed to undergo medicals and police checks within the next 28 days. It came as a bit of a shock so be prepared... Good Luck! Jo and Rob ( Manchester)
  15. Hi Shane Congratulations on being 'nearly there'... We have just been allocated a CO so we are just beginning to think about whether we should ship our furniture or start again when we get there. Did you go through similar consideration and what made you decide to ship everything? Jo and Rob ( Manchester)
  16. Hi Sammy! We uploaded scanned copies of the form 80 and form 1221 too (even though they are very similar). We had read about people being asked for both of these so thought we may aswell send them both off at the start. You don't need to get police checks until you are told to by your case officer. Very exciting but a bit of a shock that things are moving so quickly...
  17. Thanks Ang! We completed the form 80 at the time of submitting the application as we knew we would be asked for it at a later date. It's just medicals and police checks now! The e-mail from the CO asks for a response within 28 days. Do you know if this means the results have to be returned within this time or if we just have to respond to him within this time?
  18. We have been allocated a CO and asked to go for health checks! Submitted application on 3rd May... Looks like it's getting quicker and quicker... Scary but exciting! Does anyone know how long you have to enter Australia once the visa has been granted?
  19. Hi Jimmy! We (me and my husband) lodged our application for a 175 on 3rd May. I'm a teacher too - and we're in NW England near to Manchester. There don't seem to be many teachers who have recently appplied so it's difficult to gauge how long processing is at the moment for our profession. Let us know when you are allocated a CO...
  20. Thanks for your reply, we will wait for a CO to be assigned. What's AHPRA? JoandRob
  21. Thanks for your reply, we will wait for a CO to be assigned. I see your Visa has been granted, that was quick, 6 months, exciting, good luck! JoandRob
  22. Thanks for your reply, we will wait for a CO to be assigned. JoandRob
  23. We have submitted our visa 175 application online 2 weeks ago and have received our TRN. We have checked the progress today and it shows that our medicals, chest xrays etc are outstanding. Does anyone know if we need to do this now or wait for notification as per the application form advice? Jo and Rob
