  1. Hi,

I have got a PR and have moved to Sydney on a permanent basis. My family will be joining me by August or so. We are a family of 4. 2 kids of 4.5 years and 3 years old. I know that as new migrants we are not allowed benefits for the first 2 years. But I know I had read somewhere that we might be eligible for some benefits for which we do not have to wait for 2 years.

Can anyone of the senior members please help me with the information? Since I have 2 kids and my wife will not be working, what benefits can I get considering that I am the only earning member?

    Thanks.

    Cheers,

    jbb

  3. Well done JBB.

Really fantastic news. Unfortunately we are still waiting. Team 2 is being soundly beaten by team 33. :-((((

Will give them until 9th Dec as that will be 4 weeks from meds were refered.

    Colin

Thanks colin!! I am a relieved person today.....yeah team 33 was on a roll today....granted visas to 3 people...all of them had CO assigned on 25th Oct....I understand how feel Colin.....but cheer up.....I guess it is more of a formality in your case.....once your meds are cleared....I guess you will get your visa in 2-3 days max......have some more patience and hang in there....thanks for all the support and guidance you have provided to me and other members of this forum!! All the best with your application!!

  4. Hi, jbb

First of all Congratulations on your visa grant.

My CO is also AK frm Brisbain Team 33.Could you please share how she is, means is she a tough person to deal with? and why it took so long for verification frm CO side, did'nt you provided all the documents? what was the main focus of CO for verification?

    Thank you ozfever!!

I think AK is cool....she did not bother me or my agent at all...she just sent email 3 times since the time she was allocated my case....one is the email she sent informing us that she is the CO processing my application....second....she replied back acknowledging that she had received the documents which she had requested to be resent via email.....third......she wrote to inform us that I have got the visa granted....:wink:

I do not know if she did the job verification from all the applicants she handles....I feel the only reason she might have done verification is because I had claimed 8 yrs of exp which gave me 15 points for work exp....when I had done my skill evaluation from ACS,...that time I had not got my skills assessed from my current company since I had just joined and was just 2-3 months old only.....later at the time of visa application I was almost 1 year old in my current company....and therefore had to submit reference letter signed by my colleague...as I did not want to discuss about this with my HR...since I was barely one year old in the company.....so I feel they may have just verified to confirm if I actually am eligible for the extra 5 points which I had claimed in my application or not....also apart from that I was also awaiting PCC from another country where I had spent more than 12 months....I guess I might have got the visa much earlier say by Nov 20 or so but since I did not have the PCC in my hand....therefore it took a little bit longer....i submitted my PCC on 28th Nov and got the visa on 3rd Dec...nonetheless I am very happy that its over and now I have a PR .

    Good luck with your application.....

  5. congratulations JBB.

Very happy for you on your visa grant today.

All the very best for your future plans and party hard for now...

    Cheers

    NAseef

    Thanks Naseefoz!

I have seen one of the forum members get a CO assigned and after 2 days the visa has been granted. So it is quite possible that your application might already have been allocated to a CO and he is already processing it. It is possible that the only communication you receive from the CO is that you have been granted the visa!!:wink:

So do not get disheartened!!! Good luck with your application.....

  6. That's amazing news, WELL DONE!!!! Team 33 and AK are definitely on a roll!!

Just feel that stress lifting off your shoulders, after all the worrying its an amazing feeling.

Best wishes for your future plans in Oz.

Thanks d4ddyc001 for all your support!! Yes I team 33 is on a roll today....I already read 3 people getting their grants today!! I hope and pray all our friends get their grants soon....

  7. Congratulations on your visa jbb!

Do DIAC contact all current employers for applicants? My current employers does not know about my application, so i'm a little worried about this (i'm at state sponsorship stage). Thanks

    Thank you finnijo!!

Even I had not informed my HR about my visa application....they came to know about it when DIAC sent them the email.....my HR was pissed off hearing about this....but as you can see that they did not give any false information and validated the email which DIAC had sent them. Good luck with your application!

  8. Congratulations, jbb! Really good news! Were there any verification checks(e-mails, calls from embassy etc)? And what are the initials of your CO? Thanks.

Thank you newwave!! Yes DIAC had emailed my current company the documents I had sent them to validate. I had also received call from the Australian Embassy from New Delhi and was asked employee code....date of joining, last date...designation from my previous company as well as current company. I do not know if they did any verification from my previous company or not though.....

My CO was AK from team 33.

All the best with your application!!

  9. good news.. despite the long verification process you have from your CO..

    congratess

    jealous jealous jealous

Thank you Plutology!! Yeah those were tough days for me....but am glad that everything is now behind me....I want to enjoy this moment!!! I am sure you will also get your grant also in the next few weeks.

Thank you delta, annetev, ztij2003.....yes its a great feeling......I will also celebrate this with my family!!!! Thanks to all the forum members who were there to guide and support....I wish all of you who are still waiting to hang in there....I am sure you will get your visas!!!

    Cheers,

    jbb

Finally I am a permanent resident of Australia!!! :ssign19::biggrin::wink:

  11. Thanks everyone!

Jbb, I got my co night of 27/28th and then visa next night 28/29th, crazy isn't it! The night she contacted me to introduce herself she asked for passports and birth cert for my family, that was it. I'd front loaded everything but my medicals were referred. When she contacted me the next night i thought it was for more info but was shocked toread my grant!! I'm so happy! I'm hoping when I see this thread tomorrow you have yours! d4ddyc001 has the same co as us too, she must be busy!!

thanks for your good wishes ztjt2003, but sadly though I still have not received any email yet :em4600:

yeah i know many of our friends on this forum have her as the CO.....I hope we all get the grant soon...i hope perhaps next week there may be some good news from someone of us.

so you are planning to go to which city and when? btw did the CO do any job verification for you?

  12. :jiggy:We got our visa last night/this morning!!!! I am strictly speaking a November applicant (5th) but everyone on this thread has been so helpful I thought I would update you all. I only got notification of the case officer the day before and my medical was referred too, so thought I was in for a long wait. Can't believe it!!!!!

Thanks for everyone's help, support and advice. Team 33 Brisbance too!!!!

wowwww that is awesome news ztj2003...... actually i am not able to believe it that you got the visa in just 2 days of being assigned a CO......did the CO even inform you that she is now processing your case? Or the only communication she sent you was the visa grant letter.

BTW, my CO is also AK, so I just hope she is kind enough on me too and showers her blessings

  13. Had THE email confirmation that our 190 visa has been granted!!!! Woooooo Hooooo. Its been impossible to sleep and my mind is ticking over now cos we've finally got the go ahead to start planning our new life down under. Sure there will be a lot more of you receiving your notifications this week too, so good luck everyone!! PS our case officer was from team 33 Brisbane.

    :em3600:

Many congratulations!! Indeed very good news........all the best for your bright future in Oz!!! Well the rest of us still need to be blessed by Team 33 :biglaugh:

  14. Small update from me!!

I had telephone interview on Monday morning with a prospective employer after I sent an email to them which was a lead from the ACT settlement officer and they are impressed with my C.V. and in January are sorting out things their end and they have agreed to give me 3 months trial from Easter as we told them we were validating then so it looks like I will stay and the wife and boy will come back and move over October time so its a very good start.

:ssign19::hug: wowwww....this is indeed excellent news sully!!! I am so happy for you!! Many congratulations......I guess you have started your new innings in Oz with a sixer!!! :) All the best mate!!

  15. Hi Jaso,

If this makes you feel better .They did the same to me - team 33 brisbane , sent an email to my existing company asking for the validity of my reference letter. That letter went to every department in my company, and finally came to a team which knew me, and my centre head gave me a call trying to find out about my future plans. I told her that its not a future plan but kind of a future option :) and its not granted yet and it will take time and bla bla... I don't know what they think about our employers .There is only till a point they can co-operate outside the scope of office work. Lets hope for the best

    Hi swe,

Welcome to the club!! I guess you are the second person here after me who reported that DIAC sent an email with the complete documentation of your current job to your current company to validate. You are from which country and did the HR sign the reference letter or your colleague?

    Cheers,

    jbb

  16. JJB, I didn't have any verification carried out at all. Still keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks d4ddyc00l, I too hope that I get the grant soon....looking at the timelines from our group....i feel that I have been waiting for sooooo long....but I know there are many people who have applied much earlier than me and still waiting patiently......so I guess I cannot complain much either :(

  17. Thank you so much for all your kind wishes. I think it's only by coming on here that I've stayed sane throughout this process!!! It hasn't had chance to sink in yet, but I plan to celebrate a little tonight with a nice bottle of Australian wine!!

Good luck to all those who are still waiting - hope you all get good news soon.

  21. Hi all,

I wonder if anyone has the direct CO e-mail for team 33 Brisbane? My letter from CO inly had the 'no.reply' address and although I have emailed that address a week ago, I still havent had an answer and really want to email scanned docs to CO! Very frustrated at having no real available contact details - my CO is KD.

    Thanks

WA SS granted 24.10.12, Visa lodged 25.10.12, CO 13.11.12

that's the email address of team 33 brisbane.gsm.team33@immi.gov.au which I had got when my CO emailed us.

  22. Annette

your boss sounds awful and what a horrible thing to say. I believe i am very well respected at my current job and when i told them they were upset that i could be leaving, but also understood. In no way have i been treated different since.

As a Manager myself i understand that people move on, and its generally the best people because they have ambition. If i was unsuccessful with my visa my employer would not and has not treated me any different.

if i talked to my staff that way like they did to you, i would have little or no respect from them.

In my eyes its best moving on, and how immature of them, it just sounds like they were having a tantrum.

    You deserve better!

    N7kkp,

But this is typical behavior which I have seen from our peer colleagues and managers....the common thought is what is there for me? Very rarely managers and HR tend to think from the individual's point of view and try to facilitate things for the benefit for the employee especially when they have got a hint that this person is not going to stay with them. I do not think Indian companies are considerate enough and think from the employees point of view even after the employee has been loyal to them and worked with full dedication. I wish all managers were like you N7kkp who are humane and understand their employees aspirations!!

I just hope someone amongst us shares some good news soon this week!!

  23. Guys,

Has anyone received any call from Australian Embassy/High Commission to verify the details? I am from India and I received a call from Australian embassy today (from Delhi) confirming all the details I had submitted to them....like my DOB, my employee id etc...when did I join my current company...designation....when did i join and leave my previous company....designation etc.....

This is kind of news to me that they are verifying from the company as well as from the applicant as to what information has been supplied to them in the application....He also asked me what documents I had submitted for my current and past employment. I told him that for my current employment I told I have provided Statutory Declaration.....signed by my colleague....he said that is not considered valid as such.....he said as a personal suggestion it is always good to have a letter from your HR....I said I have not informed my HR that I have applied for a visa application and explained that they do not provide details about the job responsibilities in the letter that HR provides.....and for skills assessment it is very important to have the job responsibilities and roles to be described...the embassy guy.....agreed to that.,....and said yes they are kind of hesitant to issue letters with those details......but he said its always good to keep the HR informed that you have applied for a visa and if they could issue a letter.....but he said it is only a suggestion from his end....I said I did provide a letter from my previous company since I had already left them....and even then my previous company did not give the letter easily,....they issued me the letter only after 2-3 months....but he said that Australian Embassy can do verification where-ever they feel appropriate or if they feel s required....I said I am aware about that and told them that the Australian High Commission has already emailed my current company last week requesting for verifying my employment.

He said that if you have provided valid information then I do not have to worry....I said that I have provided only the correct information and I have absolutely no worries in their verifying whatever they want to......From the entire conversation I got to understand is that they just want to confirm if the documentation provided is authentic or not because he said that they have had many applications received in the past where the documents submitted were fake and therefore they do verification....I said I understand that and I am fine with that....he thanked me for my co-operation and he ended the call.

So this is for all my friends out there who are still awaiting their visa grants....of the latest update....as far as my application goes.....

    Cheers,

    jbb
