  1. Awesome Newbie, hope you enjoyed Bali, I am still looking at when to go, luckily I got time, still on my tourist visa till 17 march, it good to know they don't hang about with the actual grant letter. Good luck with everything, the job hunt and finally getting settled in to a routine,

Best of luck to everyone else that is waiting to hear and those heading off shore to activate xx

  2. Understand completely! My tourist visa expires 8th April and PCC 14th April so similarly time is of the essence. Hoping my straight forward application processed within the time frame! Arghhh

I am sure you will be fine, I went with an agent so couldn't contact my CO direct, I have seen on here that many people do give a small nudge or at least drop an email so they remember you, it may be an idea to do that. There still a few months to go, I am sure it will all come together in time, I wish you the very best of luck

  3. HHello sorry if nosey but was there a reason before 17th March? Is there a time limit which they said you had to be offshore by or your IED? you can tell I'm worried about timings right? Ha ha!

Not being nosey at all hun, im over in Oz on a 6 month tourist visa, it runs out on 17 March, if I didn't get my visa grant by then I would have to go back to the UK and reapply for another tourist visa. My medical / police check runs out in June, I have to have gone out and come back in by then but coz of the tourist visa I got till the 17 March, hope that makes sense and I explained it right lol xx

  4. Hi guys

    congrats to everyone granted recently.

just a quick question do you know if you are entitled to extra baggage allowance on flights as emigrating?

hey, the best thing to do is check with the airline you plan to travel with, we went with Emitates, the allowance was 30 in the hold, 7 hand luggage, we didn't get extra for emigrating, we could have taken more but it would have cost quite a bit, sorry I couldn't be more help

  5. I cant stop smiling Mrs Fabricator!! Feel like ive won the lottery haha. Just got to go offshore next week and wait for the grant yeeay.

I bet you do, it great, the wait was worth it, you can get settled now and plan for the future without the dreaded grant hanging over your head :) fingers crossed for all of us that are still waiting....... and waiting ....... and waiting.... :)

  6. Hi All, I am not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this but here goes, hope you may be able to help. There are many of us that are waiting for our visa's to be granted, I used an agent and she has always told me that it would take 8-9 months for a decision to be made as to whether or not I will get the visa. My question is, I have done everything necessary and been waiting to hear if I have been successful. Is it a givens that because I have been waiting for 7 months I am pretty much guaranteed to have my visa granted or is there still a chance that I may be refused the visa? I have been told that there are no guarantees but if you were not going to get the visa I would have heard by now, or is it a case of I have done all they asked but my application is in a pile waiting to be checked and a final decision made?

I am interested to hear thoughts on this, thanks

    Becky :)

  7. Thanks for the timely response Rheia,

I think the fear of not having the right info for the application is a main concern and this causing a delay in the application is our may concrn.

I wonder if anyone on this forum has ever used an agent? Do you know of any application that have gone though this avenue?

Hi bigboy01, I used an agent, my case wasn't overly complicated but I wanted to be sure that I had done everything properly, My OH used an agent for his visa and they were brilliant. I used Visa Bureaux and cant fault them, I had a few things that could have potentially caused problems but they helped with everything, they were very reasonably priced and I cant recommend them highly enough. While there are many on here that did the process themselves and that is great if you happy to do it, but in my case using an agent was defo the best way for me/us, good luck with everything and hope the process goes well for you

  8. Hey Mrs Fabricator! our visa's where Lodged on the exact same day! I've got VF though. Will you post when you know? Where are you waiting in OZ? Im in Melbs :)

Hey Newbie, will defo post when I know, it seems that people are getting their grants after 6 months, but I guess you can never go with that, Im In WA, just outside Perth, are you on a tourist visa? I am until Jan then if I have not heard anything will need to extend. How are you finding Melbs? We came over 2 months ago, did a big tour, 11,000ks was amazing, let me know if you hear anything aswell, fingers crossed we hear soon :)

  9. Hi there everyone, I'm a bit confused, my fiancée and I have applied for a partner visa in June, I'm Aussie and she is British. Can she enter Oz on a tourist visa and wait there for permanent to be approved? I received some information that advised that it is fine if you tell your CO of your travels dates, but then I've also been told that if she enters on a one way ticket it could cause major problems?

I'm totally confused now, any help or suggestions?!:chatterbox:

Hi there, my partner already has his PR visa I am waiting fro mine to be granted. I plan to fly over with him fairly soon on a tourist visa and I will be travelling one way. I have found no problems with this. My reasoning is that I would not be fixed to a time to leave and if for some reason I need to go back to the UK I can arrange a flight to suit. Should my visa be granted while on the tourist visa I just have to leave to activate........ I hope that helps, sorry if I rambled

  10. I have never seen my CO name on here, most people seem to have filled out al their forms themselves.... as you know I went through an agent, I wonder if that makes a difference, I am sure that I have to go through the agent rather than contact my CO direct..... it can be very confusing..... I need to get a tourist visa, contacted my agent she said to go on a visa that no longer available, should I contact my CO direct about it? I just dont know

  11. Yeah I've already discussed all that bit with my CO.

Hi Lucyh88, I applied at pretty much the same time as you. I plan to go over on a tourist visa also. I went through an agent because it was easier for me. She said it not a prob to go over on a tourist visa as long as they know, I have been told that I should go on a 626 visa ( I think it that one, cant remember off the top of my head) She never mentioned the evisa thing or the free one, how do you apply for that?

    Thanks

    Becky
