Thanks for pointing my frustration out bobbie :wacko: guess I just needed a big fat winge here.

Please don't get offended but as a European who recently had to take over HR in our small company I am appalled of what I am seeing. We're having several jobs on offer from technicians, engineers to accounts p/r. I'm not even mentioning the developer position I've had to fill internally thanks to Tafe teachers because of lack of applicants. How is it possible that Australians without education or experience turn down jobs at above award pay? I am baffled at how much Europeans or other Nationals want a job just for the sake of having a job and are willing to work hard whilst aussis here are turning our offers down. We are still not able to fill our vacancies which is putting a strain on everyone in the company. I am ready to say now: Australia does not have a skills problem, Australia has a moral problem. Is it that as long as the dole is better they won't work? Is it that they have been spoiled by the past economic highs? Sure there are exceptions but I'm shocked about the work attitude or our applicants. If anyone is interested please PM. We're looking for field engineers/technicians/infrastructure engineers and accounts p/r.

Many thanks to Yoland and Raul as well. I have managed to change my flight to come back on the last day of my visa. Planning to lodge the partner application before I leave I should hopefully not have any issues getting back in if they hopefully issue the BVA upon submission.

Many thanks Ric and George for your quick replies. I've spoken to immi again and given that I have to travel in 7 days they said the BVB might not be granted before I leave Australia. I am also waiting on my stat decs to be returned to me that's why they advised that the evisitor would be the best visa to return. Now, I've read stories about people having trouble re-entering the country this way after having spent some time here already. Given the time constraint this might be my best option however, I have no idea what to do if they would refuse me upon my return. In the end I am a tourist, I would be visiting my partner and I am not working anyway. I may as well use this time and travel to some places I haven't been yet. I wouldn't have the time to book anything though before my return. So would not be able to show them any proof of my travel intentions.

Dear Pomsinoz Intending to apply for partner visa but need to travel before it takes effect. I'm currently on a student visa. I've booked a holiday a long time ago assuming that my current student visa would go until the last day of the month, as it has always been on previous student visas I held. To my surprise I got one day less this time, it runs out one day earlier. I'm returning the next day and am not able to change my flight anymore. Immigration told me to apply for the partner visa and straight after that for the BVB but their website says that I can only apply for BVB if I am already on a BVA. My BVA will only come into effect after my student visa runs out and will be canceled anyway once I depart Aus (whilst still on my student visa with my partner visa application submitted). My return date is one day after my student visa runs out. Would I really be able to apply for a BVB if I am not yet on the BVA? I could not find anything similar when searching this forum. My only other options are: Applying for a tourist visa before my departure - unsure if this will be granted as a genuine tourist or might affect the partner visa if I apply for this once on the tourist visa. Continue with another semester on a new student visa - expensive if considered that it is more expensive onshore plus the partner visa fees after that. Any similar situation and how you solved it? Hi Arianne I've worked with people like you, trying to make the impossible possible and finding them work on farms. I wouldn't go up unless you have a car or van and can sustain yourself financially. Farm work is not what is used to be and you may have to travel from farm to farm and be on the spot to get a place. There are too many people wanting to do the same and you are lucky if you find paid work. Tully is risky as the harvest hasn't been great last year. Try to find like-minded people on gumtree and meet up before, inform yourself and only go where you can support yourself and move on if nothing works out. Otherwise go to another city and try hospitality. Good luck!
