  1. I think it won't be hundreds, don't stress too much! Summer is a busy period for moving in and out, but even then I think the most I have seen attend a viewing for an apartment (haven't looked at houses) has been about 25 (eastern suburbs). I think four to five months would be plenty of time.
  2. Hi SiameseCat, I was told it would take 5 working days after the medical exam. The finalised (=all done) message will be: [h=3]Health clearance provided – no action required [/h]All health examinations required for the specified visa subclass have been finalised. Once this person lodges a visa application, additional health examinations may be requested where circumstances have changed or additional information is provided to the case officer.
  3. Hi Vince, It took 3 weeks - I had to chase it after week 3 because this was 1 day before I had hoped to leave for Australia... I think they usually aim to look at the application within 21 days. hope that helps! Laura
  4. Hi guys, my visa was granted today  ...at last, life-organization can begin! Here is a timeline in case anyone else is entering on subclass 419: 07.05.2012: Australian sponsor lodged nomination 21.06.2012: nomination approved 27.06.2012: visa application form lodged 29.06.2012: payment deducted 02.07.2012: visa application acknowledgement, CO assigned 19.07.2012: CO requested further info 19.07.2012: further info sent 20.07.2012: visa approved no medicals or police check required
  5. Hi Laura I am also on a specialist entry temporary visa. I ticked 'no' when I submitted my 147 application form. Your case officer will e-mail you then to say that it is missing from your application. When my case officer e-mailed me I basically asked what I should do, and he told me I could buy a TRAVEL insurance policy valid for the period I enter Australia until the time I can enrol in Medicare. I bought a policy for ca. 5 weeks, just to be safe because the flight was not booked etc. My visa was granted. hope that helps! I don't know about whether you can cancel insurance such as BUPA on arrival - I read other places that this is indeed possible to do once you have enrolled in Medicare.
  6. thanks for the replies! I'm hoping it goes fast.
  7. Hi All! Does anyone have any experience with subclass 419 processing times? (visiting researcher, sponsored by Australian University) I'm gaining lots of valuable tips on here (thanks everyone) but wondered if the reported processing time of 2 months quoted on the DIAC website is not a little long - based on other temporary visas (e.g. 457), I see processing times are typically much shorter. I just received e-mail confirmation that I lodged a valid application at the Aus embassy in Berlin, though not sure how quickly I will receive a case officer? And, final time to decision? (coming from a LR country, assume no medical for a 1 year visa, and no police check) any tips would be much appreciated, cheers, Laura
