The minimum educational requirement for RSMS is Diploma except certain technical trades like Fitter in Group 3 – Technician and trades workers. May be he got wrong advice. Or You have to prove you are an exceptional appointment, like already working on 457 for last two years in same occupation.

Thanks for all who pointed this.

I think Cook is filled into the "group 3".... is this right?

  2. Just notes....

Our occupation is cook, region is Perth WA. He and I didn't use MA.

I applied 7th June - got visa 14 June. He got the nomination approval letter in june from immi.

That means you have non DRC application (no MA) and you you got visa in two weeks. May be I am missing something. Other Non DRC RSMS cases are waiting more than six months now.

No, my application wasn't DRC. It surprised myself too.

I posted when I got the visa, but once again, in that time, when immi received a perfect application (medi/approval letter, police clearances etc) the case was passed to CO straight way. That I heard from my CO anyway. But I don't think it happened for everyone as huge amount of applications reached to immi in June. I should say I was extremely lucky one.

I presume that if I applied in May, or even after mid June, I wouldn't have PR yet.

  3. Well, I heard a very sad story.

One of my colleagues applied for RSMS, but his visa was rejected.

He has been working for the sponsor company for over one year as casual. The reason of rejection was "not qualified". I just heard this from my boss, so I am not sure what this mean, but I presume that his work experience wasn't enough or simply not enough evidence (papers..like certification or work history,IELTS etc etc)

I did applied at the same time as him. only difference between me and him were, I am working as full time over a year and gave many evidence and wrote work experience (not just name of restaurants but what Ive done, how I worked etc) for my visa.

  4. Congrats with your PR - it's nice to read some success stories :-)

Did you officially get a CO appointed or didn't you get any information between the acknowledgement and visa grant?

I had not heard anything from my CO.

I guess, my CO gave the visa straight away when she opened my case. She didn't need to contact me in any case cos the application was completed one.

  5. Congra8s..... that was so quick....I applied almost same day as yours.. nothing heard....but one of my friend got his in a week.. just like yours....

Can u please let me know for which occupation did u applied?// 857 or 119???

    Hi,

my visa is for 857, occupation is Cook.

  6. Hi ALL,

I just got the visa! and my case should be really rare, look my timeline.

    my time line was

6 June 2012: Nomination and visa application lodge

7 June : acknowledge letter received

14 june: nomination approved and visa granted

My RSMS nomination was granted last thursday, and she said that my visa also was granted the same day, but for some reason, the e-mail hasn't been reached to me.

the lady told me that my application was absolutely perfect, she said thank you to me !!

I didn't use agent, so it was non-DRC application.

She explained to me that due to the season, so many applications are there. If you send complete application, they pass the case to CO straight way. I prep my application perfectly and attached a letter which was "checklist".

so, even NON DRC, you may get visa in a few week!!

my visa actually was granted in one week anyhow!!!

But if you sent already, the situation would be different, I guess they do this for recent applications.... just I guess.

    Good luck

  7. I am not sure that it is the appropriate thread for this question, but many of you have done applied by yourself...

I am not filling form 47ES for RSMS, and have question about "Q33 said exceptional circumstances."

Because I am a trade person, I am not required Diploma level for this application.

On Form 1054, we ticked Yes on "Is this nomination for an occupation that requires the appointment of a

person with a technical or trade qualification requiring at least a AQF

Certificate III?" and the form doesn't say I should attach the reason why this is exceptional in the case.

Does this means, I do not fill the exceptional circumstances on Form 47ES??

    thanks

  8. I would like to check this, at this stage, we don't need to do skill assessment for submitting skillselect?? (it may be change by 1 July though)

I am wondering, RSMS will be required skillselect, but EMS won't. but both visa required a sponsor from a company....

  9. hi all

i am cook. my employer wants to sponsor me under RSMS scheme.application was lodged with regional body for approval on 21/12/11. received refusal letter on 13/02/12 says "cook is a level 3 position and require cert 3 only. to be sponsored under RSMS scheme position has to be diploma level or higher".i am on 485 visa which is expiring soon please help thank you

    Hi pkb84,

Your comment is really interesting. I am planning to apply for RSMS as Cook soon.

I read Booklet 5, and it says below.

I presume that many people, cook and hair dresser etc, applied for RSMS by now, and granted....

    P.22

    • Skill level 3 and 4 occupations do not generally require a diploma and can only be approved under exceptional appointment provisions;

Employers who are seeking approval of occupations with a skill level 3–4, that are not

in ‘Group 3 – Technicians and trades workers’, must provide a detailed submission

explaining why they believe the appointment should be approved as exceptional.

    P.26

Your qualifications are assessed at visa application stage. If you do not hold a relevant

diploma then your skills will need to be assessed under the exceptional circumstance

    provisions.

If the employer nomination was approved as an exceptional appointment for a

technicians or trade occupation you will not need to provide further justification under

the exceptional circumstance provisions if you hold:

    • an Australian diploma that is relevant to the appointment; or

    • an Australian trade qualification that is required by a relevant federal, state or territory

industrial training legislation or award and includes formal training and on-the-job

    training; or

    • an AQF Certificate III; or

    • an equivalent overseas trade qualification (as assessed by AEI-NOOSR Country

    Educational Profile).

  10. Hi,

I just get into the queue for RSMS. My employer should send the form to Certifying body in PERTH in this week.

Immigration website shows the timeline for RSMS (within 4 weeks), however, I didn't realize that the waiting time for certify and nomination....

Anyway, wish our luck to get certification/approval letter and VISA within this year!
