  1. Hi there

My husband and I are from the UK, moved with our Labrador a couple of years ago and had to come home a few months ago due to ill family. We used Petraveller - ask for Lenny, they were amazing! We had the crate a few weeks before so he could get used to it again, then when they came in the morning to pick him up they were so lovely and put our minds at ease. Our dog was allowed one of his toys and they told us to put in an item of clothing that smelt like us. We even had a video sent via email of our dog in the crate before he boarded the pane.

    Thanks

  2. Tickled Pink - Of course but you get what I mean :)

MaggieMay24 - Thank you very much for your response. Yes they still have nomination sponsorship available since they last sponsored an employee. I will look into applying for our side of the visa this afternoon so it's matches up with their nomination.

I have just written a statement after calling a migration agent and the Australian Border Control with their advice to let them know the situation and I have attached my husbands company sponsorship letter. I guess all that's left to do now is cross everything so I can take this perm role!!

  3. Hi there

My husband and I arrived in Aug 15 on a Working Holiday Visa. We have been working in our professions in Melbourne since November, 2 weeks ago my husband was offered sponsorship by his employer (he works as an Electrical Engineer), his company have sponsored many employees from the UK before.

Yesterday I was offered a permanent position at a great company as an Executive Assistant - However, they are not happy that my passport number still obviously shows as on a WHV.

My husbands company is currently sorting out the sponsorship nomination papers to send to Border Control with all his details on, as well as myself as his wife.

    A) Do my husband and I also apply for a 457 sponsorship visa? Along with his employers nomination sponsorship?

    B) How long will it take until we go onto Bridging visas? Or is this not until the 7th of Aug 2016 when our WHV's run out??

    C) Is there a way around me taking the permanent job on a WHV visa, with a promise for the company that my husbands sponsorship will be granted and we shall soon be on a bridging and then a sponsored visa?

If there's anything else I have missed, advice or tips please let me know ASAP, I feel like I'm in limbo with accepting this role as they are looking to background and work right checks next Monday but I am trying to write a statement to promise them of all the above. The MD of my husbands company has written a letter to confirm they are sponsoring him and has told me that I can let the offering company for my perm job, contact him at any stage re the sponsorship he is putting through. So we're trying to cover all angles for my job offer!

    Thank you

  4. Bless you Pinkestlady. When do you fly? I hope you're okay :)

We have friends in St Kilda so we're staying in an Airbnb for 3 weeks, and then pick up a campervan to travel the East Coast for 3 months and then we're coming back down to Melbourne to start work. Looking to settle around St Kilda / Elwood area as we have 8 friends around already.

  5. Hi all

My husband and I leave Nottingham England for Melbourne in 3 weeks and our dog leaves in 2 weeks. It's my last week of work this week and the hubby's next week, and we have our leaving party this weekend.

Phew!!! Anxiety and emotions are running high. A lot of our friends are actually coming out towards the end of the year for NYE or to even do a year on a WHV so not too bad leaving a few of them, it's the family that's the hard bit as we're not sure when we might see them next.

Don't get me wrong, I am super excited and more than ready for a brand new chapter of our lives together, especially as we got married last year, both 29 and have been together nearly 10 years, we're bored of life and career options here. My stomach just gets in knots with anxiety packing away our house and getting ready for the goodbyes.

Anyone else had all this? Any tips/ advice?

    Thanking you [emoji5]

  6. On WHV's ... but with no intention to return hopefully. Hubby has work contacts out there and on the skills list but going travelling up the East Coast for 4 months before we settle

  7. Don't be crazy. Dogs are pets and I love dogs. Not enough to pay mega bucks to get them from one side of the world to the other though.

The comment about would I do that to my own kids is just an over reaction.

You can't love dogs that much or you wouldn't care about the price. We've had our lab since he was 8 weeks and even though he's only 4 years we could never imagine leaving him ever! He's part of our family and we love him deary and you can't ever put a price on that!

  8. Is that for a one way? Yep I've been on the phone with them today but the guy was a bit rubbish so I've made a appointment in Glasgow to speak to someone, just waiting for it to be confirmed.

Yep that was one way hun

  9. so far my flight quotes are coming in over £900 for BA and £1147 or something like that for Emirates

Have you tried STA for flight? I leave in August and although I have a 1 night stop in Singapore I got my flight for £670.

Also Google 'sta voucher code' as I found one for £20 off!

  10. Yes, I have got a copy of my GP medical records, when I left the UK in May. The right to request access or get copies of GP medical records only came about fairly recently.

I had to fill in a form requesting the "full" or "summary" version of my medical records; I got the summary version as my history is not very interesting/eventful. I think I paid £10 for it, but there is a cap of about £50-ish, depending on what your practice has put in place regarding payment.

Details + fees are included in this link: http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/1309.aspx?categoryid=68

I didn't bother with the dentist, mainly because I didn't think about it until it was too late and also because my dental history is also very uneventful!

Ah perfect thank you very much.

Found a subject access request letter template and will sort today :)

  11. Hi there

My husband and I emigrate to Melbourne in August and I have read that we need to request and take our records from our doctor and dentist, is this correct? As I've heard doctors records are confidential and they can't just give them to you. Confused!

    Thanks

  12. What's your work background stacey? My niece found hospitality jobs weren't easy to get, paid very little and were absolutely exhausting. Also they often include weekend/evening work which means you have no social life, not exactly what you want when you're supposed to be enjoying yourself. That's why she registered with a few temp agencies. She got plenty of work and being in an office meant she had the chance to meet a lot of new people, too (as well as getting her evenings back).

You'll find a lot of backpackers in Sydney offices!

    This sounds good Marisa.

I'll be in a similar situation, my husband and I come out to Melbourne in August on a WHV. I currently work as a personal assistant to directors and my hubby is a qualified electrician and electrical engineer so would be nice to find work with a hope of sponsorship for him one day :)

  13. My feet sweat and itch really easily so can't wear boots and quite a lot of trainers, it's like I'm allergic :( But I live in Converse due to the canvas breathable material and they seem perfect for every occasion these days lol

  14. Hi all

My husband and I emigrate to Melbourne in August, we have a Movecube taking all our essentials but as this will take up to 3 months and we have 30kg each, we're looking at sending over heavy clothes/ shoes we need for Oz August and my husbands DJ controller that he needs a soon as we arrive. Can anyone recommend a postage company that could do this at all please?

    Thanks [emoji4]
