  1. hey folks, been a long time.

looking for advice for my parents, there both in their 60s and want to come and retire here in Brisbane to be with their only grandchild. I see some visas on the immi site that come in around the 6000 quid mark per person. has anyone tried these? are they painful to get? how long did the application take?

    thanks in advance folks.

    Gordon

  2. My transcripts are orignals stamped with the university seal on, I'm getting them notarised not sending the originals. As I understand it as long as the orignals have been seen and certified by the notary they should be fine, I'm qualified on all 3 parts of the NMC register (all done at 3 different unis) and it took one of the universities 3 months to get my transcript done correctly so not keen to let it out of my posession!

well im a RMN and i know that OZ is short of mental health nurses. i know there training for RMNs can only be done after a 3 year RGN course so not many do it. quick promotion options if you want that

  3. Thanks Gordon, unfortunately I sat the IELTS last year before I found out about the secondary school thing. Have got everything else, university transcripts etc and having it all signed by a notary on Friday, the CV was just the final bit and have put all my notable skills and competencies in it now (hard trying to cram 18 years expereince into a few pages of A4!). Have also requested for the NMC and the IELTS test centre to send proof of my registration/confirmation of IELTS results direct.

Just a bit confused by the fee structure, did you pay the registration, application and assessment fee or just the assessment and application fee as I understand you have to go into a APHRA office in person to register when you get to OZ?

    Thanks for your advice

i have paid for everything, once the AHPRA application is done you have a year to attend an office in person. because my house is sold and i will be moving out as soon as i get my visa (4-6)month i decided just to pay for it all, i also paid the more expensive one as the NSW is about £20 cheaper but we weren’t sure where we wanted to live so by getting the more expensive one left our options open. are your transcripts the originals as they usually want them.

  4. hi guys, my ahpra application has just been received by them 2 days ago so I’m just at the start, like you’s i posted on here and got lots of good information,, firstly IF you can prove you were taught from secondary school onwards in English then you no longer need to sit the ILETS test. you need a letter from your high school stating you were taught and examined in English there and signed by the head teacher, also you must have you registration TRANSCRIPTS from your universities (usually cost £25 and the uni will send them directly to AHPRA but i specified the Brisbane office and gave them the address) the rest of your documents need to be signed by a notary (a super solicitor) and this can cost from £50 to £200. This would be you educational docs, passports and so on. in my CV i stated my skills, i got my record of employment and my actual contract (job description accredited by the KSF) from my HR office and had them signed by the HR director, i also listed all my qualifications i.e. degree, diploma and so on, then i listed all my in-house learning modules i.e. fire training, CPR, control and restraint. i put in a brief description of my skills and duties/ responsibilities. i think with AHPRA they are very intense and can take anything from 4 weeks to 4 months to sort it out, make sure when you send it you have all they want as you will waste time in the long run if you make a mistake, keep asking questions on here if your unsure

    all the very best,

  5. Thanks for info, am looking into top up degree anyway as it looks like its gonna be needed in the future and its very expensive to do in australia, not planning on going for a couple of years yet as have property to sell first...have a wonderful new life in Perth!!

i wouldnt apply to ahpra untill your house is sold, i think you only have one year to appear in person at an ahpra office to prove your identitiy so i would wait.
