And my opinions of the chav areas in the uk are neither here nor there! I'm just looking for a nice place to live where we will meet like minded water loving active people. Thanks aorange, some great info. I will take note of the suburbs u mentioned. Also do you know if there are many places for dog walking off the lead or are most of the paths around the lakes fairly well used and busy?

Hi all. my husband and I emigrated From England over a year ago and have been living in W.A (south of the river, For anyone who knows) And we now want to move over East to be close to family and friends. We are very interested in the Lake Macquarie area And want to know peoples thoughts on living in the area and the best/worst suburbs. We don't have children so being close to schools is not an issue but we would like to be close to the lake and amenities as well as it being a quiet area. Also does it have the hoon/bogan problem that W.A has (sorry hope that does not cause Offence) Look forward to people's comments many thanks
