Hi , im looking to import my BMW 3 series 320i coupe 2007. I purchased it recently for £15000 and im looking to move over to Oz in around a years time. Ive been told by numerous people that I should import it and id make good money however going threw the numbers im sceptical. Am I missing something. I came up with these figures from the following website:
Thats a total of $12740 in fees and thats before I get anything converted to meet Oz standards. If I sold my car now for £15000 at todays exchange rate thats $24000
Thats a total of $36740 (probably more) and looking at this model in Oz they are advertised for around $40000 but probably buy it for less.
I just cant see how doing this would be worth all the hassle when I could just buy one is Oz without any fuss.

Oz port charges - $150
Customs clearance - $850
Quarantine Inspection - $250
Customs Valuation - $320
Duty Tax 15% - $5000 (probably more)
GST 10% - $4250 (probably more)
