lodged 820(spouse) app 21st June, granted 23rd August (melbourne). I have been informed by an immigration agent that 4-6 weeks is normal for LOW risk app's lodged in Aus. I was not contacted by anyone, and recieved my visa via the post. I mention this as my passport was re-issued last year and some peanut misspelt my name, and as 6 months had lapsed(will replace FOC if notified within 6mths of a mistake) I was going to have to spend another $400 applying for another one. I put my app in anyway along with all supporting docs which all spelt my name correctly, but filled in the app form as per my passport. No one has questioned it and i now have my visa, the only problem is my 'new name" is appearing on more and more doc's (driving licence etc etc) and to undo it will be a nightmare. The moral of this tale is do not let your wife file away your passport unless she can remember where she has put it!
