  1. Starting up a small photography or other business is not going to be a visa route. Business visas require an extensive track record of running a business including a substantial past turnover, I cannot remember how much but I think at least $500,000 per year if not more. Generally not realistic for the sole trader.

Hi Rupert do you have any suggestions for a more realistic route for a sole trader that could help??

  2. Hi Ive just started on this website and i am in the same situation Diploma Level 1 & 2 in Ladies Hairdressing (City & Guilds). Plus im doing nvq level 3 and barbering at the minute .

Do they recognise these qualification or do you have to do the skills tests?

Im just waiting to hear from Frogoman immigrations.

    What did you find out?

    Thanks

    Hi kezfods

Sorry for a late reply haven't been on here for a while!! I got a confirmation letter from City & Guilds confirming that my Diploma Level 2 is the exact same as an NVQ Level 2. This is to be enclosed with the visa application and it is up to that assessing body whether you still have to do a skills test or not. Some are saying they have had to do it others are saying they haven't, so it all depends when your application goes in.

When and where are you looking at going??

  3. Hi talesofatwinmum I don't have any answers for your questions but may I suggest looking up Alan Collett on here from Go Matilda they are pretty good and the most helpful of all the agents I have ever spoken or there is another guy on here to called Rupert don't know the rest but he I think is an agent or something. The only other suggestion is to phone to Australian Immigration themselves and find out exactly what they say. Hope this helps you, and good luck

  4. Hi there

Just wondered if anyone can help. I'm a little confused by the qualifications that are required for a 190 visa. I currently hold a Diploma Level 2 in Ladies Hairdressing (City & Guilds) and an NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing (City & Guilds). The Level 3 certificate I received in March this year. My Diploma I gained in July 2010. What I need to know is whether my Diploma Level 2 is the equivalent of the Australian Certificate III.

I also have one year paid as a Hairdresser and two years unpaid training experience can I use this???

Now I have set up self employed again and only been going a few months, running a Photography and Hairdressing business can I use this as a gateway to Australia???

Any advice would be much appreciated

  5. You should receive a schedule of costs from the agent setting out all costs relating to your planned visa application - including the DIAC Visa Application Charges - assuming you asked the agent to provide one (or one was offered by the agent).

    Best regards.

Thank you Alan, when I spoke to the agent yesterday they asked me to write down the costs whilst I was on the phone to them, which I did, then they said the costs would all be in the follow up e-mail that they were sending yesterday. All I received from the agent was a letter of Terms and Conditions for if I decide to go with them and a Pro Forma invoice for their charges to do the visa. There was no list of the costs and what the costs are for. I have a list of questions to ask them today see what they have to say but I will be ringing around other agents as I am now not sure if I received correct advice in the first place.

  6. I spoke to an agent today with regards to 190 visa. We are just about to start on it, but I am a little miffed to be honest. Not once was it been mentioned about the rising cost of the visa application and according to this thread it has been known for over a week. Feeling a bit let down & confused :err: really not sure what to make of it or the migration agent that neglected to mention the additional costs.

  7. Immigration is not based on sectors i.e. it is not the case that you can get a visa for manufacturing (say) but not agriculture (say).

There are occupations lists called the SOL and CSOL and if the occupation is on there then it may be possible to get a visa subject to meeting all the other criteria. Go to www.immi.gov.au and use the search function to find the mentioned lists and then see if your partner's occupation is listed.

Thank you Rupert my partners occupation is on the list but he actually comes under four different things.............so we are going to have to find out which code is the best one to use.

Thank you to all you lovely people for all your advice just going to find an Agent give them a ring & double check, cross the t's & dot the i's before we go back to this man

  8.

The advice from the “Migration Officer” is either incorrect or has been misunderstood.

There are many agricultural occupations which can be sponsored under the 457 program, from Mixed Crop Farmer to Wool Classer.

A 457 would be possible as long as your partner has the required skill level for the occupation he is being nominated for.

Thank you ABA that's what we thought & we were told originally it just threw us a little when this guy said that. I think it might be because the other guy only has a trade of Electrician nothing in Agriculture at all that they have had problems.

  9. Hi there just wondered if anyone could help us........?

My partner has just been offered a job this week in the area we want to be in, however the guy has explained to us that he is not a Business Sponsor as of yet, he is willing to do this for the right person, which is my partner, but he has been told by a migration officer that people cannot get in on a 457 visa into Agriculture. He has already tried to sponsor a guy recently but found there to be a problem as the guy's main trade was an electrician and the government weren't keen on him going into Agriculture.

What we would like to know is that my partner has worked in Agriculture all his life & wants to work in Australia, it has always been one of his goals in life, we want to know is this possible on the 457 Visa & if it is not is there another route we can choose to go down...............?????

Any suggestions, advice would be much apprecaited

  10. Hi there we have a bit of a dilemma, back in march my ex husband signed, witnessed & consented to me taking our son to Australia on a 457 visa. Since then progress with our prospective employers have been considerably slow due to some issues their end. However I have recently been told that the consent that I have had signed & witnessed only lasts for a year??!!!! What I want to know is if this is true or not........does anyone know......?????

    Please help!!!!

  11. Hi I don't know if this will help but we were told to provide photos of holidays, functions we had been to, special occasions we had had as a couple, receipts & copies of transfers between our accounts, receipts of items we had paid for each other, and testomines from close friends & family. I have been told the more info you can gather the better!!! Hope it helps & good luck :)
