Try the search feature, this has been discussed before.
You should only apply for SS if you intend going to the state that will sponsor you.

Hey there,
Im a CA and I also applied. Whatever the assessing bodies say, the DIAC considers skilled employment to be from when you graduate from your degree and start working in full time, paid employment. Full time paid employment must be at least 20 hours a week and in your field.

Zionking, I've gone through your post and highlighted all your mistakes for your convenience.
I hope my language is simple and concise enough for you?
As an international student and GSM applicant myself, I can completely emphasise. However, your rant delivered with such angst is ill-fitting of your apparent achievements in both university and the workplace.I am not here to berate you, but to emphasise and redirect your frustration into something positive. You clearly have good grasp of the English language, but it seems your argument and phrasing of sentences are lacking.
Let's start from the top: You acknowledged Freedom of Information act wouldn't work against the IELTS and its company - if you are conceding that it won't work, why are you making argument that it should?
Also, language is a means of communication. Effective written communication should also be simple. I would recommend that you start selecting words that fits and explains your point of view better.
Example A:
"The .5 deficit means that by this time next year, I will have to leave the country for good due to expiry of current visa."
'Deficit', really? This is not a budget talk. you have a difference in points required and points you received. Use of punctuation as well, seems to be very limited in your writing [yours too - you seem to have a million commas everywhere for no apparent reason but anyway]. Punctuation is extremely important and that could may well have been your downfall here. [Agreed - learn to use it.]
Anyway, that's just me giving you couple pointers.
I don't work in a 'top notch' consultancy but boy, I would consider harnessing more positive approach and less of pomp and paranoia, since you leak of stereotype 'I expect so much from society and if I don't there's a consipiracy'. You give us hard working people a bad name.
Rather than typing up such a vitriolic reply, why not be supportive. Yes the OP was a bit arrogant, but he makes a good point - it seems unsual that so many people miss by just 0.5 in one band.

I have no idea how you manage to spend $700 a week on food. Even if you eat beef twice a week, chicken twice a week and fish once a week then eat out I'd still battle to see how you can spend so much.
Do you maybe have a shopping list you can show?

I am afraid that articleship will not recognised as skilled work experience and am pretty sure on this (of course I would have been more than happy if they did as I would have got my PR last year itself).
It will be a differenct case if one starts working and not undergo practical training after the Bachelors. You must be lucky that they counted your articleship period towards work experience.
Full time work is defined somewhere on the DIAC's web site as any paid employment that lasts for more than 20 hours a week. Who told you that they don't count articles as towards your work experience? I'm not sure it's the same in RSA but we work as auditors from day one... although it's a practical training contract, you actually do all the work of an auditor. By the end of year 3 you're basically running an audit team as a senior.
Anyway Good luck. They definitely counted at least 1 year for me since I needed that to apply for the visa at all (I finished articles at the end of 2011).

I don't know how the CA programme works in SA but in India, the degree will be awarded only on completion of the 3 years training programme and passing the final examination. I got my skills assessed from CPA recently and my articleship period was not counted.
Why didn't you get your skills assessed by the ICAA? Just wondering...
-
It's similar in RSA - you do your BCom degree, then an honours degree. Then you work full time by a recognised training office (usually one of the big four firms) for 3 years. During those 3 years you must pass part 1 and part 2 of the qualifying examinations - only after passing both exams and completing the training contract successfully will you be awarded your CA designation.
The DIAC considers your work experience to be from the moment you complete your university degree and start working full time. The awarding of the professional designation doesn't reset the clock for your work experience (whether it was called articles or not) as long as it was full time.
-
If you qualify for PR, that is always first prize. Rather go that route.
-
I am from South Africa so I did my articles through the SAICA training programme, I they counted all 3 years (ie, from when I completed my honours degree and started working full time). I didn't need the points for 3 years work experience, so I will never know if they counted them or not, but you could always ask the ICAA (Australia's CA authority) to confirm your experience.
Good luck!

I'm not sure where you saw that NSW is sponsoring electricians - http://www.business.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/5788/STNI-Update-List-of-Occupations-22.09.11.pdf
Thats their latest list?

It means that the docs you provided have been assessed as meeting the requirements that apply to them - eg, if your proof of skilled employment is met, it means that whatever you provided to claim those points is A-ok

I'm sorry for your divorce
Your visa and right to live permanently in Aus isn't changed by the divorce. Same for your children.
-
You could include your letter and payslips, then also do a statutory declaration/sworn oath on what your duties etc are.

In Oz they look under the rocks....for minerals, iron ore, gold, gas and everything else that they can find to keep the mining boom going
I think you missed my sarcasm
-
why does any country need 14000 accountants! all they do is ruin companies!!!
Why does anyone need geologists?! All they do is look at rocks!
-
Occupational ceilings has now been put up on skill select.
Seems like there will be some competition for Accountants to get the visa this year.
Good.

I arrive in Jan '13
-
Your visa was refused because your intention is not to be a tourist - you're there to look for work. You should have been refused and you were refused, what is the problem?
If everyone bucks the system like you are trying to, then we should all just arrive on tourist visas and then look for work. Australia works because the rules are applied - obey them.

It's never too late. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Do it
-
Since it is a provisional visa, I think you can't do that. Your visa might be cancelled unless you can get QLD to agree to sponsor you for the same visa.
-
I would give an answer, but sorry I don't do immediate responses.

I think it's a big noise about nothing. The only thing that would worry me is if you have an occupation that may be removed from the SOL or be likely to quickly reach the occupation cieling for that skill (eg, accountant - like me... I applied earlier just in case).

I'm an accountant - there's a fair amount of jobs available, but just realist that the recruitment for these positions tends to be quite slow. Worst case you could probably pick up a job in audit for a while?
