  1. Hi, we have a 14 year old who is about 12/18 months away from having braces fitted, he still has a baby tooth which needs to come out before they will start straightening them. Question is, we are due to emigrate not long after this time and I wonder what others have done with their kids treatment?

is it quite simple to find an orthodontist and is this covered on Medicare or is it a case of paying privately or do you need medical insurance etc?

    Thanks

Hi, we have been back in the UK a year after being in Perth for two years, our daughter had various dental treatments whilst there.....cost us a fortune...and was quoted $13,000 for braces....we had private medical but ours only paid the first $2,000, I would defiantly check and budget for it as nothing is free!

  2. In hindsight I regret not having hung on to our house in Bristol but that was a long time ago and the way the real estate prices rose subsequently we would have been sitting pretty but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm a belt and braces gal so I have kept our Aussie house just in case - we can afford it though. I'd be hesitant to take the equity and fritter it away!

We went to Perth in January 2012....didnt sell our house......rented it out...we returned to the UK in January 2014 (our choice)...moved back into our house.....so glad we didn't sell it!.....

  3. I don't think any employer will offer you a job without being in the UK. Things have tightened up here, largely through immigrants coming from Europe, they have to make sure that employees are able to work in the UK by providing passport, national insurance number (this has to be on a government letter head) they won't offer you a job without these items. The best they will do is say give me a call when you arrive. Certain jobs are picking up here such as engineering, however, government jobs are on the decline due to cut-back especially around South Yorkshire.

My husband secured 3 jobs whilst we were still in Perth! The interview process was done via telephone call and then Skype! We left perth and within two weeks of being back in the uk he started his new job...we haven't looked back! Good Luck!
