Thank you guys for your advice!... He was just so disappointed last time.. Only got the results on fri... Maybe when the dust settles a bit he'll realise it's the better option!... I agree totally but hate the fact all the pressure is on him!.... It's one mark!! I'm sure he can do it!... He did absolutely no study for the previous tests.. So I may just give him some IELTS revision book for Christmas!... He might get the hint! X thanks again! Claire x

I know this would be the better way to go, but at the moment my husband is saying he won't do it again, hopefully he might change his mind! But he can't see how he can revise for it... It's the reading he keeps failing on?! The first time he did sat the test he got L:8.5 w:8.5 S:9 and R:7.5!... I'll work on him thank you!

Hi adam our points are made up as follows... 15 for age 10 English language 15 experience 10 trade i believe on the 190 we can gain an extra 5 for state sponsorship..... And that leaves us 5 for my skills?.... He's done the Ielts twice and can't face doing it again.... So I was going to pay and get my skills assessed?.... Don't know what else to do? Thank you you for your reply!

Ok so here's the thing.... Hubby re took the IELTS and missed out by 1 mark again results : L:8 S:9 W:8 R:7.... We needed 8's to get enough points as we are sitting on 55pts.... I'm getting conflicting info from people and wondered if anyone knows the answer.... husband ( electrician ) me (hairdresser) can we claim 5 pts for partner skills to make the 60? We want to move to QLD on a 190.... ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!
  7. we were going to apply for the 190 visa on my husbands points score (currently at 55... he needs to re sit IELTS as he missed out by 1/2 to get the score of 8's in all sections) now QLD have released their revised list (489visa) and hairdressers are on it which means we can now apply on mine.... I get more points as I am 10 years younger but not sure if my work experience is enough as I have been at home for the last 4 years looking after our 3 children.... I do have 5 years experience working for toni and guy after that I opened a franchise of toni and guy but threw in the towel as I found it too stressful working full time and looking after 2 children (at the time) I have been out of the salon for 5 years now but have been working on weekends for a bit of extra cash but obviously have no proof of this. what can I count as experience? and what proof do they need? any help would be much appreciated. oh and hubby is resitting the test on sat so he may get the points needed on his but.... he cant keep retaking it so he's said one more time!

    what to do

Thanks for replying guys!... I have checked the list for Qld and they need electricians with " heavy industrial" experience... But mr Google is unclear on what it is!... My guess in high voltage stuff.. Which he has but getting the evidence may be tricky as it was a while ago!.... his IELTS was broken down as follows reading 7.5 writing 8.5 listening 8.5 speaking 9 he didn't revise at all as he had the attitude that he shouldn't need to! Typical!!.... He's said he'll do it once more and try and improve the score but he thinks it's hard to prepare for coz its different every time!... Although he is going to this time! Hopefully get him on by the end of the month!... Then just wait! Thank you x

    what to do

hi guys ok so i'll give you all a bit of background on us My husband is an electrician (mainly industrial and commercial... but obviously does domestic too) I'm a hairdresser by trade but no longer work coz we have 3 beautiful girls aged 2,4 and 7. we are trying to apply for a permanent visa to emigrate to Oz.... QLD as we have friends there and john has been told he can get work. ok so here's the problem OH has just turned 43yrs he has taken his IELTS test and got 8.5, 8.5, 9 and 7.5!! his qualifications are all up to date as are mine. but we have been told we don't have enough points to apply for a 190 or a 189 as his IELTS score needs to be 8's in all sections. I've looked on the lists for Queensland and they needs General Electricians with Heavy industrial or Signalling experience.... What does this mean? im confused and at my wits end coz this is our dream! I know he should sit the ielts test again! but there is no guarantee that he will get 8's and time isn't on our side! can anyone give me any advice please? :arghh:
  10. been on to the accountant... She can give me wage slips for about 3 years, p35, p60's and tax returns and bank statements.... Hopefully that'll be ok! And a reference.... Lol
  11. I can do that!.... Any idea how far back I need to go?
  12. Hi I'm all new to this and slightly worried about the whole process... My concern is that for the last 8 years my husband has need running his own contracting company.... Although he is a director he is still classed as employed. Problem is he hasn't any wage slips.... How can I get around this? Any advise?
  13. Ok so we've just signed the contract for an agent to help us with our application... My husband (42) who is an electrician and I'm a hairdresser (33).... He has recommended that we go down the 190 visa route.... I've booked hubby for the IELTS test on the 29 aug so fingers crossed!... I guess the nxt stage is getting him booked on the vetasses?.... We'd like to go to QLD as we have friends there... So fingers and everything else crossed it all goes smoothly! if anyone has any advise about the paperwork needed for vetasses please let me know... Need to get organised as I don't want any hold ups as not getting any younger!! ......:unsure:slightly scared!!
