Sorry message timed out - things are a little different here, he may need to apply for some licences depending on experience and where you are heading to. Some products are similar, some we sell here we do not sell in the European market, there are other things we have in the product line up that he will not have worked on. We are recruiting at the moment, a couple of other large companies have also been recruiting recently. I'm happy to answer any questions by email if you pm me an email address

Hey all.
Now that my residency visa is going through I am teeing up with my Dad to send some of my Handtools over from the UK. Rather than send over my whole toolbox, I'm just going to get him to pick out my a few things such as my sockets, spanners and gauges, clean them and box them up to send.
I am looking at arranging a courier from my end, but I was wondering about customs declarations and import duty etc. I have done some digging and from what I've picked up as they are my tools already it should be pretty straight forward.
has anyone had any experience with this?
Thankyou.
I did this in 2012, tool case full of test meters etc. surprisingly best deal was Royal Mail, tool case weighed around 20-25 kg, found a cardboard box the case fitted in and taped it up, printed address label and customs dec and taped to the box. Took it to the post office and waved it goodbye. I paid for I think 5 or 7 days delivery and it arrived on time at my new office ( had to be signed for )
cost was around 140 GBP plus about another 30 for insurance. You can track on line until it is signed for in Aus. There was nothing to pay when it arrived here as it was all stuff I already owned

Take some time to decide, explore everywhere. We thought we would end up near the sea, Butler and surrounds is quite dense living, any new build (as a lot of rentals are) will be on top of your neighbours, nothing wrong with that if that's your thing. We booked a holiday rental for 3 months before we left the UK, tried for a few north but could not find one empty for 3 months so ended up in the hills. Big blocks, lots of space, national parks and state forests, less populated. We bought 10 mins from our holiday rental, easy access to the city etc.

Well, it will be hot, lovely time to get here. We've been here 3 and a bit years, love it
where do you plan to settle ?

Alternative methods just don't seem to work
same as spiders, chemical are the way only solution

we should all pay a little more, have you seen Kate lately?
she needs a good meal.
or get a job

No am stikcing with the hairdressing plan mate.
Well, if you do, I hope it works out his time
Although I did think the defacto idea had potential, if a little shameless
-
Because you sound pretty clueless about all the important stuff related to the visa requirements. If you read that page you will be able to answer most if not all of those questions yourself.
You haven't come across Jack yet have you ?
Well done for trying to help but you are wasting your time
Check out his history, under his previous user name as well, make some popcorn first it's a whirlwind ride of laughs, how to get into Australia as fast as possible, with no qualifications and no patience to get any, yesterday was hairdressing in NZ then popping into Aus once he had a visa, so many ideas
bless you Jack you keep trying and keep us amused
-
PR Visa is linked to passport, passport control then you are in Aus no problems
Don't need any other paperwork, we brought it but not needed
-
Can't help with shuttle, guess taxi would be $60 plus
Bayswater car rental usually give the best deals, loads of people on here have used them and they have a branch at 160 Adelaide Terrace

Sponsored is a 457 visa which is only temporary, like a work permit, I think it's for 2 or 4years, someone else will tell you no doubt
some people can apply for a permanent visa during this time if they qualify
Not too sure of all the details, job still needs to be on the list, if you loose your job you have 90 days I think to find another or leave the country. Permanent visa is a better option if you qualify but 457.can be a lot quicker
-
I just went to account details on UK store, there is an option to change country, put in Aus and then Aus address and card details, all done, no need to change email address or anything
-
Yep that's the first step but I would also check how your mum would fit into your visa application
-
All seems to work fine but you will need to move your iTunes account from the UK store to the Australian store and register an Aus card before you can purchase anything

Butler is Little Britain
I would be looking for somewhere else to live that won't involve a lot of Tonkin Highway
Lots of other nice suberbs depending what's important to you
